Post Election Sackings: Five Alkalos Fired In Western Division!!

Heads of have started rolling, as President Yahya Jammeh make good of his promise of dealing with party supporters opposing the APRC. Five Local Government leaders known as Alklos have been fired in the Western Division, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal.

The landslide victory of Independent Candidate Lamin Jarju of Dasimah Ward in Brikama, Kombo Central is costing five Alkalos their jobs. The Alkalos were fired with immediate effect, according to a letter signed by Local Government Minister Sambou.

Among the localities affected by this major sackings were: Dasilameh, Kitty, Dembayah, Busurah and Payem. The Government had not given any reasons for these sackings.

Sources close to the Department of State for Local Government and lands said the move was due to the defeat of the APRC Candidate in Dasima Ward in Brikama. Our sources said Mr. Jarju’s victory never went down well with the Government.

Officials at the Local Government Ministry have confirmed the sacking of the five Alkalos.
