….4 Senior Revenue Collectors Fired for Embezzling D40,000.00 Each

Four senior revenue collectors at the Brikama Area Council ( BAC) have been sacked following their alleged failure to handover their collection money to the Interim Committee of BAC, in which veteran politician Lamin Waa Juwara is a member, the Freedom newspaper has learnt. Lamin Seeka Jatta, Hassoum Sanneh, Kebba Bojang and Yankuba Kujabi were given their marching orders early this week when the Council investigation discovered that the quartet were shamelessly involved in financial impropriety.

According to our sources, each of the four erstwhile BAC’s staffers was accused of embezzling a total amount of D40,000 .00. Our sources added that in the wake of this development , the Interim Committee of BAC have now launched what it call ‘an all-out operation’ geared towards to sanitizing the Council.

“The Committee is still investigating some of the left revenue collectors and it is in fact interviewing all the employees within the Council because it was also discovered that some ghost names also appeared on the pay list.” an insider at BAC told our Banjul Correspondent.

The men are yet to be charged by the police. Investigations into this high profile graft are currently underway. Officials at the Brikama Area Council have confirmed the sacking of the four officials.
