Central Bank Staff Say The Governor Denied Them 20 Percent Salary Increment!!
All is not well at the Central Bank of The Gambia, as Governor Momodou Dixs Bamba Sarho, as he is widely referred to by disgruntled Central Bank staffers, is yet in another major corruption scandal. The disgraced Governor is at loggerhead with his staffers. Governor Saho has been accused of undermining The Gambian economy, President Jammeh’s efforts to uplift the working conditions of Civil Servants, denying Central Bank Staff 20 percent salary increment, abuse of office, nepotism, favoritism, adultery and a host of other damning allegations. Below is an email sent to the Freedom Newspaper by a top official of the Central Bank. The official had begged for anonymity and therefore we are not at liberty to breach a protocol governing-between a source and journalist's relationship. The official wants President Jammeh to take action before the Central Bank would be ruined by Governor Sarho. Below is the full text of our source’s communication. Please read on…
By A Senior Official Of The Central Bank Of The Gambia
Dear Editor
May I first of all take this opportunity to thank you and your able staff at the Freedom News Paper for the efforts you made to be back online in the Gambia. I take this opportunity to welcome all the Gambian readers to a fresh academic session as our University is opened.
Mr. Editor, please do me a favor and honourably pass this message to President Jammeh. We the staff of Central Bank want the president to look into our plight as we are demoralized by our corrupt Governor Mr. Momodou Diks Bamba Saho. Governor Bamba Saho is a fake governor working against the interest of his predecessor Hon. Famara L. Jatta. Retired Governor Jatta raised the moral of CBG staff during his tenure and that reflected in the stability of the financial sector in our economy. The present Governor hate president Jammeh and he is occupying the position just for his selfish interest as his mission is to bring failure to the Gambian economy. Mr Saho is a WOLF IN SHEEP CLOTHING and president Jammeh would regret appointing him sooner or later if he don't intervene to rescue us at the central Bank. The central bank would fail and the Gambia financial sector would follow; and Momodou Diks Saho would laugh when all fingers are pointed to President Yahya AJJ Jammeh.
This is a Governor who imposed his powers on the training committee to send his brother Abdou Karim John for training when in actual fact the boy is without the requisite qualifications to pursue a postgraduate program within the required one year time frame of the CBG. So the brother is gone to spend more than the one year time allocated to all those approved to go on training. What madness is such a decision. Let Diks Saho know that what is good for the goose is good for the gander as well.
Recently, the CBG held a board meeting and nothing so far important comes out for the staff. Can you imagine this Governor promoting only people he so desires at the expense of the hard working ones. The much anticipated improvements on the staff welfare were all in the garbage. He sits on all efforts to make sure staff benefit from CBG as done by the former Governor. There was a 20% salary increment in the whole civil service in the Gambia and we at the CBG also expect improvement on us every two years. Unfortunately this mad governor is denying us our right as a technical way of sabotaging president Jammeh.
Also the CBG staff expect training for the young potential officers as done by Governor Jatta every year, but Governor Saho still sits on all opportunities after sending his brother illegally on training. This man is managing the Central Bank as his home. So president Jammeh should stand upright and do justice for us at the CBG. We all expect the intervention of Mr President on this matter as he said he stands for justice. So Justice delayed is justice denied.
One remarkable indication to show you that CBG staff are demoralized is the level staff quitting their job. Can you imagine CBG staff leaving for the commercial banks and other institutions because of the injustice meted on them. I tell you, almost all the potential staff are ready to leave if the doors are open. Do you know what Mr Saho said when he was informed of the issue of staff quitting. He said, 'I would employ others if they leave'. Just imagine that, this idiotic governor is allowing the good staff of CBG to leave after those staff undergoing both in house and external trainings to gain their experiences at the cost of the CBG. Is it rational to allow those staff to leave like that through carelessness in decisions? I would mention all the names of the staff who quitted in 2007 if he dares to challenge this statement.
It’s so disheartening to know that Governor Saho is an alcoholic and a womanizer. He like following ladies with fat buttocks. Let him speak out and I would disclose the name of his girl friend in one of the commercial banks in the Gambia. This idiot is in our hand and we would expose his outside married life soon. We would not allow him to use bottom power work at the CBG.
On the Directors at the CBG. This governor's actions are always supported by the Director of Banking Services Amadou Colley. Mr Colley is a real boot licker. No wonder, he was promoted as a Director by Mr Diks Saho before his colleagues who even seniored him and are more qualified than him. This is a man whose first assignment in the morning is to go up stairs to say good morning to the Governor before he starts work. He never disagree with all the decisions of the Governor. Go to the CBG senior management meetings, the man would always say 'I entirely agree with the governor'. We don't say you disagree with the Governor, but stop supporting him on issues that are detrimental to future of the potential staff and Gambians at large. Be a rational being and try to promote justice always.
I am working on some figures about the corrupt practices of the Governor especially on the so call renovation going on at the CBG. It is one project where they are enriching themselves with millions of dalasis at the expense of the Gambia as a whole. I rest my case.
Mr Editor, do send your staff to CBG to find out all I mentioned. You would be shocked to find out more as the staff are very angry with the current situation. Please publish this article the soonest after your research and keep my name off the article. We pray for you and your staff.
Meng keta/lou am.
