A BUNDLE OF SECURITY WITH NO END AT SIGHT AND THE MOST USELESS ON EARTH
It is so perturbed and inconceivable that the Gambian Government is continuously changing the composition and the nomenclature of her security forces even though it is on record the most inefficient or the most dysfunctional security apparatus in the world. First it was the National Guard, Military police and the Navy .Now comes the Republican Guards, National Guards and the Special forces. As if that is not enough the intelligent agencies are broadened into the Criminal Intelligence Agency, Military Intelligence Agency and Special Services Agency in addition to the National Intelligence Agency. This is utter nonsense and complete disregard of the plight of the people. All the terrorism etc is news to the Gambia; we are doing this as an ulterior motive. It is for the president to have lots of avenues to employ and promote his cronies and tribesmen who are dominant in the security establishments. The United States with over 200 million documented people has only the DEA, CIA AND FBI.What matters are the quality and not the quantity. Strengthen the present security forces, arm them to the teeth and encourage them highly would be better than changing their names, color and functions without no real skills and expertise to do the job they are required to do.
I think the Wuli parliamentarian could not have said it better. The threat to our country is ‘poverty’ of the people. The millions going to be used to revitalize and strengthen this agencies could be given as debt relief for the poor masses of the country who are being fed mostly by remittances from friends and relatives abroad.Indeed, in my recent trip to the Gambia, I do not come home with a butut from the mostly 1000 dalasis I put in my pocket, the money I sent to my brother to save for me was nowhere to be found as his Grade 11 salary was not enough to fend for the many mouths he was responsible of feeding. It was a disgrace but I gave him my honest forgiveness as his assistance to me both while I was in the Gambia and now abroad has been tremendous. I went broke under a month and I had to be sent money myself to use as pocket money in my return.
The aim of this security apparatus is suspicious. Terrorists fight against established territories but in a case where the leadership in the Gambia has no influence on the international stage what are terrorists have to do in the Gambia, a country so peaceful, so small and so obedient to the Arab world. Indeed the nomenclature was clear evidence; the Republican Guards is a product of the Iraqs and the Irans etc.It tells us the story that we have been yawning for; As the jamahariyaanism is completed, the Middle East comes into play.
Time will tell. I think with this revitalize security and intelligent agencies; we would trace the killers of Deyda Hydara, the faiths of chief manneh and my Armitage Senior Kanyiba Kanyi would be determined, who killed Daba Marena and co, who was responsible for the Arson attacks of Radio one fm and Independent Newspaper among thousands of other unsolved crimes peddling in the rumor mongering of the Gambia. Find this out or you shall continue to be the most useless on earth. Let me remind you of a little history; On MARCH 17TH 2003, American forces ran into Baghdad, the Republican guards disappeared and Saddam Hussein slid into a cave. God Bless the Gambia and her people.
