Residents of Brikama in Kombo Central, Western Region have bitterly complained about the poor state of road networks in the area, accusing the 13-year-old Jammeh administration of being indifference and insensitive to their plight.
Some of the concerned residents who spoke to Freedom Newspaper accused the APRC government of 'reneging on their promise to improve the 'road infrastructure ' in Kombo Central .
According to Kebba Bojang, a resident of Brikama, during the 2006 presidential campaign, President Yahya Jammeh promised them that his government will construct feeder roads linking Brikama market to Dasilamah and Marakissa immediately after the election . However he posited that government has failed to fulfill their promise to the people of Brikama . " It is unfortunate that Jammeh is not alive to our plight but he should know that now we will not settle for anything than to get our fair share of the nation cake," he said.
Mr Bojang asserted that is about time the people of Brikama petition the relevant authorities particularly the SOS for Works and Infrastructural Development so that some thing can be done in their favour as the situation at present leaves much to be desired.
"It is nearly two years now and nothing is done about the poor state of the roads in Brikama . And look, rainy season will soon comes and we will start facing difficulties because of the appalling and deplorable nature of our roads.
." he said.
Also speaking to this reporter, Amie Sanneh of Maduyareh village pointed out that "this government did not have the interest of people of Kombo Central at heart . Whenever they need our precious votes they will come here to make wild and empty promises. But government should know that we have discovered their tactics and comes next election they will pay the price."
