Mass Promotion of Soldiers in The Gambia
  Jammeh  Trying to Appease Soldiers to Remain in Power
 
In yet another surprise  move, the Gambian president yesterday decorated some 27 soldiers of the Gambia armed forces with ranks such as  Major, Lieutenant Commander, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel and Major General respectively, the Freedom Newspaper  can authoritatively reveal.  The newly elevated soldiers include,Brigadier General Lang Tombong Tamba, Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces,  Lt Colonel Masanneh Kinteh, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff,  Major Modou Serign Njie, Commanding Officer State Guards and  Alhagie Mantin, Principal Protection Officer to the President. They decorated with ranks of Major General, Colonel ,  Lieutenant Colonel and major respectively .

Highly placed sources told this medium that the President endorsed the mass promotion of the soldiers as way of appeasing them. He said that the promotion was not based on merit or longevity of service but rather on nepotism and favoritism.  He accused Mr Jammeh of doing  under hand tactics to play with the intelligence of the Gambian military. " He is trying to appeas the soldiers but that would not save him from being democratically disloge from power." said our State House source.
