Dear Editor,
I am a regular visitor to your website and enjoy reading your news items particularly those on our beloved country,The Gambia. I think your reporters deserve glowing commendation for bringing news that is worthy for public consumption even if it tramples on the nerves of dictators and their bootlickers. Congratulation once again to all of you for exposing ill-events that those on the ground dare not write or say.
However,I would like you to investigate and report on the activities of the Governor of URD/URR on the other side of the River,to be specific in Wuli West district.I think what Governor did there is tantamount to instigating communal violence between two villages-Bajonkoto and Bani, both in Wuli Nyakoi.I am not a citizen of either village but i know that both have close ties due to intermarriages. I think it is unfair and unconstitutional for the Governor to confisticate from Banjokoto villagers the land they have been farming for over 60 years and give them to Bani for what appears to be politically motivated.Everyone from that region both in wuli and Sandou knows that Banjonkoto was the owner of the Farrows/Swamp land.
It appears that the Governor has been bribed also to act this way by sending police officers from Sare Ngai to intimidate the people of Banjokoto and even arrested some of them including the alikalo's brothers because they refused to abandon their garden as ordered by the governor.Gardens that they never share with anyone from Bani and where they fed their families for over 30 years.I think it was just fortunate that the people of Banjonkoto are law abiding and never take the law into their own hands otherwise it would have been a disaster and lost of many lives when the people of Bani some eight years back went and cut down trees planted by Bajonkoto villagers claiming that the area belongs to them. Instead, they(Bajonkoto) refered ther matter to court, even the Fishpond which Bani claimed ownership over was ruled in favour of Bajonkoto by Four Districts chiefs at the time. After almost 8 years, how and why the Governor knowingly revoked the decision of that judgement so arrogantly. As usual the people of Bajonkoto, law abiding as they are have taken the matter to court and I hope justice will be done immediately.Else, things may go out of hand because you cannot deny somebody a source of living and expect that person to live in peace with you.
Please Freedom Newspaper we are counting on you to thoroughly investigate this matter and report it so that it will not be another Babaylon problem that happened recently in Western Region .
Thanks.
