Call for protection of Editor M'bai's family-Writes Nyalinkoi Sonko Ohio By Nyalinkoi Sonko,
Cincinati, Ohio
Dear Editor,
I wish to join the good Gambians and Friends of The Gambia to condemn the latest threat on you and your family emanating from President Yahya Jammeh and his gang of thugs.
We know that the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) is responsible for this cowardly act. Therefore, I wish to make my voice heard and put across the fact that we should not under-estimate the dictator's capability. We are not surprised he made his NIA react to the Blood Diamond indicting piece with such cowardly threats because he knows the facts you presented are correct. On that note, I demand that President Jammeh withdraw such threats on you and your family. Otherwise, we will hold the government responsible for anything that happens to you and your family. We all see what happened to journalist Deyda Hydara who was shot dead. Yet more journalists are missing, killed or exiled.
Let Jammeh leave your family in peace. They have nothing to do with your patriotic challenge of the dictatorship. You are doing a noble and commendable job for your country and Africa at large. You are the true hero of Gambian struggle against the killer regime. Gambians in the diaspora especially, appreciate the great job you are doing in informing them about developments at home. Let me make it clear that Gambians appreciate what you do. Thank you. It is only the few people associated with the dictatorship who don't like you and your newspaper which should not destract you. Keep it up.
