Hello Pa Nderry Mbai,
Allow me space in your famous online newspaper to express my profound frustrations about the seemingly unending court proceedings of journalist Fatou Jaw Manneh's court case in the Gambia.
First of all, i would like to introduce myself. My name is BUBA PALLA DARBOE and i am the brother of her ex-husband and the step father or uncle of her two boys, Lamin Darboe jr. and Bajanko Darboe.
In my previous piece i wrote here urging the authorities in Banjul to drop all the trumped-up charges against her . They should let her go for the sake of her kids who are suffering every day due to the ongoing legal wranglings .
Her time has been unnecessarily wasted in The Gambia. Her kids cannot even concentrate on their education since the arrest and subsequent detention of their mum. Those trying to bring Fatou down should know that one day they will pay high price for their heinous crimes.
In fact i was overwhelmingly touched when i read your yesterday's piece written by the ex NIA officer. Even though the ex-NIA officer only spent little time with Fatou, he was able to know the kind of person Fatou is.
Thus , I wish to hail him for been very honest in his view. What he said about Fatou was nothing but the whole truth. In fact i want to tell the ex NIA officer that Fatou is an extremely nice lady who is, by all standards, lovable.
Gambians admire Fatou's courage and candor, her humility and humanity and above all her passion and compassion. So if the authorities in Banjul think that they can scare her by coming up with bogus charges against her , they are making a sad mistake, as Fatou is not set ready to retreat or surrender to the devil called Yahya Asombi Jammeh.
Fatou is a strong and principled person who had faith in Allah . Yahya Jammeh and his band of criminals should know that using Fatou as sacrificial lame will not help the situation. This cannot propel Fatou to drop the pen as writing is part of her life .
I remember one day as things get tough with me here in the USA, i called her crying and she told me that i should stop crying and i should also stop feeling sorry for myself as every body goes through trials and tribulations in life.
She said that she will not leave the Gambia until this case is over. She told me that Gambia is her home land and she is willing to stay as long as it take to see the ending of proceedings.
There are family members and friends who wanted to mediate between
her and the government. They asked her to apologize but she told them she is not going to do so as there is nothing for her to apologize.
By the way, lets all keep our prayers for Fatou Jaw Manneh and all those innocent political prisoners languishing at the mile two and Janjanbureh prison. Also my prayers goes to journalist Chief Ebrima Manneh and his family and i hope he comes home alive.
.MAY GOD BLESS THE GAMBIA AND ALL THOSE GAMBIANS IN THE DIASPORA STRUGGLING TO MAKE A BETTER LIVING FOR US AND OUR FAMILIES BACK HOME
