GAMTEL-SONATEL MOU “NOTHING NEW IS NOTHING GOOD”-BILLS ARE TO RISE SOONEST!

GAMTEL-SONATEL MOU “NOTHING NEW IS NOTHING GOOD”-BILLS ARE TO RISE SOONEST!

By Hammadi Maasinah

“NOTHING NEW IS NOTHING GOOD” came from the minds of strategists yearning for change. New here means change. Isn’t that suitable for Yahya Jammeh’s regime of “chronic” decadence. Every day we receive misleading “ego-massaging” bites with endless lines of false hopes.  Never will I and others sit back only to allow innocent souls being misled by Yahya’s endless falsehood. Never! We all love to see The Gambia develop but what I for one hate to see, is methods like Yahya’s.  Yahya excels in methods that are geared towards BUILDING CASTLES IN THE AIR. I will prove that in this piece on a case by case basis. With   facts, figures, references and results. Yahya Jammeh’s government does not research before implementing. It simply feeds on instincts, paranoia or frustration then jumps into any wagon like a lost hyena. That is why we can always see the cracks within the falling wall. Not for anything else other than exposing the  false hopes from a team of desperate “political-ameobas”. It is so sad! When I see his mad critics threatening people calling them names, saying why can’t those they hate see the good job Yahya is doing!!!? This makes me wonder. Look here! No one can teach I Hammadi Yahya Jammeh’s legacy. I know Yahya more than Zeinab knows him. I keep on saying that over and over. This is why I am one of those who should not rest our elbows when it comes to handling Yahya’s nonsense. Particularly when his scoundrels start making noise. Yahya  doing a good job? Where? Not in The Gambia anyway. In fact my question to those who ask us why we don’t see the good  Yahya does, is as follows…? Why doesn’t Yahya too sit down, pull his ears and think about reasoning with critics at least for one day out of the 365 days we have in a whole year? Why not? Here is why? Because Yahya is mentally unstable while being “cuddled” by selfish hypocrites! That is why.

Now that the so-called architects of the famous sonatel-gamtel MOU are making so much noise in Banjul, to the chagrin of many we will debunk the contents of the piece. They are awaiting shocks and despair in this one cause I have another lesson to teach Yahya Jammeh’s shameless head.  No subjective feelings for any reason here. I am simply sharing other details these so-called architects  do not know yet.  One day they will search for this piece. That much I can bet for them today. After all we care less about Yahya’s weight (inside Banjul because he has none outside) let alone those he appointed.  Look here new secretary of state and team! Listen very carefully! The latest agreement is a reconfirmation of “fermented-sour- contents" that have been left unattended after the departure of veterans like Bakary Njie and Omar Ndow. Meaning nothing new has been achieved so far. Our intension is to simply make you know that Neneh McDoll was there before you. After all she made her self enemies along the way while trying to do more toward the satisfaction of Jammeh's selfish desires! Thinking she could scrape Yahya’s dirt to no avail. Likewise make you know there are people out here so familiar with this subject therefore will never allow misinformation prevail to that effect.

That said, lets start with the way your MOU reconfirmed Yahya Jammeh’s shamelessness in all this hullabaloo. He was told moons ago that Senegal’s “nest” controls The Gambia’s internet redistributive strings! Of course Yahya’s “blind-paranoia” and "unrefined" nature always lands him into endless qualms. During all these years he chose to provoke Dakar with one accusation after the other. None were for the  national interest. Everything was centered on  his paranoid nerves. Such infantile accusations retarded so many things. Hasn’t he realized that now? It is too late! On the other hand he must try at least make a head way for his exit route when he is chased out of Banjul via Casamance.  He will regret more when he knows to what extend guys like Hammadi have influence over this new route he has taken. Sure Hammadi is not far from this anymore. Yahya will bite his fingers when he meets me in this one day. For sure he will.

A reminder for some and a lesson for others under Yahya Jammeh’s government of trials and errors. GAMTEL was established thru the bia of ALCATEL of France during the mid eighties. Indeed ALCATEL has close ties with telecom carriers in countries like Senegal (SONATEL) and those in Ivory Coast, Cameroon or other Francophone countries. I can categorically say here, that, the MOU is more for the benefit of Yahya Jammeh’s political achievements than it is for SONATEL’s marketing strategies. When it comes to figures Senegal has at least 11,000,000 (eleven million) targeted subscribers. Whereas  The Gambia has only 1.6 million (one million six hundred thousand). Already in The Gambia the latest figures on world fact books of economic intelligence show the list of subscribers is far less than even 500,000(five hundred thousand). You people in Banjul know that very well. Lets say if France’s companies that have huge shares on Senegal’s platform were to think about ECOWAS’s  350 000 000 (three hundred and fifty million consumers-gross figure) excluding The Gambia’s 1.6 Million…??? Do you think they  care losing the lower figure in Banjul? Do you think so, if Yahya wants to stay stubborn and crazy? Of course they care less figure-wise!  That’s why it is more to his advantage than it is to the advantage of SONATEL per se. On the other hand the increase is two fold here. Before it   was 34 megabits, after the MOU it has become 68 megabits. 34 plus 34 is of course 68. What has been achieved after all? Not much if one thinks about decrease in quality and increase in  profit margin (benefiting GAMTEL) vis-à-vis the expectations of our Gambian consumers. GAMTEL will once again justify another increase on the “per minute usage” just watch and see.

When ALCALTEL came in the early eighties we had only landlines not cells at all. Isn’t it? Sure it was that way. Along the way the 38 megabits stayed on right? Even at that time the challenges were on because we have the TDA-tourism development, local businesses and the number of local consumers rising by the day. Afterwards GAMTEL under Yahya Jammeh was being pushed beyond what it could do. His noisy path made us see carriers like GAMCELL,AFRICELL and other the CELLS in his head come on board. The state house crying like a hungry hyena all over the place with the help of people like Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay as usual. Saying The Gambia is being modernized! This thread pushed GAMTEL to force itself into spreading fiber  optics to different destinations  without even  thinking about the negative impact it would bear on the marketing side of things! Was any research done in that regard? Never! Yahya threatened GAMTEL to use its fiber optics as a campaign tool for the APRC! We all know that!  GAMTEL in my book should be added to the contents of the APRC manifesto thus justify its prospects as a campaign tool period!

Another area which seriously killed GAMTEL is the endless usage of its materials to help build Yahya Jammeh’s Kanilai city, his zoo and other facilities in Foni Kansala. He has abandoned facilities in the farms of Dobong with phone lines not being used  by anyone. Others and others in places which are either far or near Kanilai. He also used his paws to misuse GAMTEL in the thickets of Sintet and Makumbayaa. He knows what I am talking about here. Only Kanilai has taken more than what the whole of Kombo North would have received. This challenge stretched GAMTEL far beyond what it could take! GAMTEL has also been shouldering just too much! Now that Yahya has realized he cannot do anything all by himself as a shameless so-called Pan Africanist he has coiled back like a millipede. Didn’t we tell him about the Senegal “nest”? Sure we did. Please read the archives of the freedomnewspaper and those of the gambiapost. Yahya Jammeh is simply funny and shameless!

Modernizing The   Gambia? With long cables from GAMTEL sending them to remotest places in Kanilai??? Is that what a serious person will call modernization?  Now what is taking place here? Hasn’t Yahya realized how much he needs Dakar once again?  Because of that the 68 megabits means nothing to the rising number of consumers in Banjul. Even if the figure in Banjul is low compared to Senegal’s consumers, it still means a lot to us as a small nation within our territory. What is amazing here is that Yahya Jammeh tried to flex his muscles saying he was going to use Taiwan and ignore SENEGAL. Fatim Badjie and team find out about that. You will read it some where. In fact when people call the 772XXX… numbers from abroad to Banjul during peak hours, it is a Chinese agent who prompts a voice message for callers. This is as recent as five minutes ago when  I was calling someone at the state house battery flat. Am serious when I say so I did call a soldier there. I have something to reveal along those lines in another piece.  Coming back to the main theme, Yahya wanted the Taiwanese to take over that part, but after realizing his “unlettered” side of this whole field of marketing he dropped the ball of shame on us once again! Right now we need quadruple not double megabits to quench the thirst of consumers.  Especially   internet users In and out of The Gambia. Certainly the latter cannot be achieved during Yahya Jammeh’s reign. You will know what that means along the way.  Hello Yahya why didn’t you turn down the 28% discount from SONATEL then? These are figures showing all and sundry that you depend on Dakar.  Do you also know who and who talks to Hammadi on this, every time your teams comes and leaves Ngorr plateau? This means you should shut up and coil back like a millipede!

Yahya I have always told you that you started the fight but Hammadi will END IT. This is the beginning of the end. When you meet me in one of those meetings you will come to realize between you and I who means much to this world of marketing. Yahya you said if you are no longer a friend to someone he or she will suffer? Have you forgotten God? Time will teach you lessons along the way.

Enjoy your meet the people’s tour. Just so you KNOW I have already sent  a parcel of 55 cell phones to Banjul. Whether you like it or not my informants will trail you, hear you and reveal what they heard. Yahya if not for being a believer I would have gone way beyond what you think I can do against you. Sometimes I stop because people ask me to think about God. Just do not think I Hammadi care about your useless ways of sending threats!  You will see who ends this fight along the way. Yahya Hammadi is not a quitter when it comes to fights! Do not hesitate planning evil things against me but do not also run away when you realise my capability  along the way.
Meet you in Conakry!
