CONTROVERSIAL CAMPAIGN FOR THE  SPORTS PRESIDENT BEGINS IN BRIKAMA

As the bi-annaul  congress of the Brikama Sport Association looms large, a controversial campaign begins in the Brikama  Western Region  as to who is  to be the next  President of the Association. A handful of sports pundits and gurus alonside the  current holder of the position,  Lamin King Kolley are presently feverishly campaining to head the sport coordinating body ahead of the much-hyped congress slated for June 1st, 2008.
 
Its has been described as the most controversial campaign in the
history of sports in  Brikama. The current holder of the position  who is the  Gambia under 20 team manager is  showing sign of throwing in the towel as he also wants to remain  in the helm of the affairs , says our correspondent  "King Kolley wants  to serve  for third term in office which Brikama sport Association  constitution allows.  But he has slim chances as  his main  opponent, Lamin jaariba Bojang,  a CCF community worker and also the Brikama sport manager is waxing up to step into his shoes".

Speaking to Freedom newspaper Lamin king Colley said, he is poised  to contest for the position of President in  the forthcoming congress so that when re-elected  he can  complete  the development projects he  started  in Brikama, "there were many Presidents before me but what i achieved during my tenure was extraordinary.  i can boost and be proud of it.  It was in my tenure of office that Brikama mini stadium was able to get the first artificial grass, with pervillion and dressing room.

There are also others  project  sealed and we are working on them. I am here for development and not corruption  as many will do"he said.
For his part Lamin Jaaraba said that king had served two term in office,  adding that is about time he step down to allow fresh blood to head the association. 

 According to him any attempt by Kolley to  overstay his welcome will not be accepted and will be nipped in the bud.  He therefore called on the electorate to vote him as he has more and better ideas to steer the affarirs of the association.

The said congress is held every two years during which election is conducted by the team representatives and community members within Western Region. This time the congress is selected to take place on June, 1st 2008.
