Detained Army Officials Accused Of Trying To Assassinate President Jammeh

Suspected Accomplice CPL Lamin Bojang Moved To Farafenni, Pending The Completion Of the Investigations

Major Lamin Gano former ADC to President Jammeh has been arrested alongside with Captain Baysupha Jatta,  leaks from the State House unveiled. Major Gano who was reported to have been appointed as the New Army Public Relations officer was said to have been detained well before the President’s meet the people’s tour alongside with the above name military personnel. Gano, and  Jatta  have their services terminated and were held at an undisclosed location. Corporal Lamin Bojang who was suspected in the said coup against President Jammeh was moved to the Farafenni army camp pending the completion of the ongoing investigations.

 Captain Bayuspha Jatta known as BK was a member of the President’s hit squad called the black crew. He is from Brikama Berewuleng. He has been linked to the past terror activities directed against Government opponents. His brother Ebrima Jatta told the Freedom Newspaper that Bayuspha went for three weeks  training in Taiwan and was arrested upon his return. Ebrima Jatta said his brother was arrested as soon as he landed at the Banjul International Airport and taken to an unknown location. “ I tried to locate him, but the NIA would not tell me what’s going on. He has been missing for weeks now. For now, we do not know where he is detained. We are very worried.” Said Ebrima Jatta.

CPL Lamin Bojang who used to work at the State house was a close friend to Captain Jatta. The NIA moved him to Farafenni for security reason. The detained army officials are being questioned in relation to a plot to assassinate the President Yahya Jammeh, revealed military sources.

Both Major Gano and Captain Jatta were said to have denied the allegations brought against them by the state. The men are yet to be charged.

 Gano, Jatta and Bojang all used to work at the State House. A plot to kill the President was said to have been uncovered. The Army command and the state are currently down playing the arrest of these men. But highly placed military sources said what the Daily Observer reported today was far from the truth. Our sources said Gano was never hired PRO. " He has been sacked and detained with Captain Jatta. This nonsense presisdent is testing our patience and we will get him soon. Just watch!!!" said the army officer.

Few days ago, a caller who reached the Freedom Newspaper claimed that Yahya Jammeh is dead. The caller left a voicemail on our answering machine, but we decided not to publish his claims. There is a big division in the army. The President has been accused of discriminating against Mandingkas, Wollof, Fullas and other tribes.
