JAMMEH DISCRIMINATES AGAINST OTHER TRIBES!!!
Politics of discrimination is creeping into Gambia’s body politics.
President Yahya Jammeh is discriminating against other ethnic groups in the country. Jammeh’s discriminatory tendencies are evident in the way he hires and fires public officials. He’s favoring his tribe men and women to the expense of the Gambian nation. If you are not a Jolla today in The Gambia, you are considered as a “ bad person, unpatriotic, enemy of the state, the list goes on and on…..The President has undermined the country’s cultural and ethnic diversities in the name of tribal discrimination.
Taking a closer glance at his Government’s composition, one can clearly see the Jolla dominant factor of the Gambian Government. Almost all key Government positions are in the hands of Jollas. Most of these appointees are square pegs in a round hole. They are just not qualified for the job.
Under Jammeh’s watch, qualifications and experience does not matter. It’s alien to his Government. Once you are a Jolla, you are qualified to head any Department of State. We must hasten to add that their are educated Jollas in The Gambia. Their are also decent and hard-working Jollas in The Gambia. What’s unacceptable is to discriminate against other tribes.
Prior to the advent of the Jammeh administration, we have been happily living with Jollas in this country. It’s Yahya Jammeh who is trying to promote tribal discrimination in The Gambia. He hides in the name of Governance to discrimination against other tribes.
Regrettably, very few Gambians are keenly following Jammeh’s tribal discriminatory tendencies. Many readers of the Freedom Newspaper called to thank us for documenting names of Jollas hired by the President. “ I am surprised that most of the people in Government are Jollas. Your paper is doing a fantastic job by exposing such maladministration. Discrimination in all its form is illegal and undemocratic. The current trend suggests that Jammeh is discriminating against Mandingkas, Fullas and Wollofs.” Said a caller.
We at the Freedom Newspaper opposes tribalism and its perpetrators. We also do not condone discrimination. The Gambia is a country of diverse people and we should discourage the type of dirty tribal cards spearheaded by Jammeh. If all hands are not put on deck to stop such a national menace, we risked witnessing social discord or tensions one day. Tribal discrimination breeds lawlessness.
Based on the feedbacks we are getting, Jammeh has a special project on Mandingka, Fulla and Wollof army officers and other public servants. His main intention is to get rid of potential threats and replace them with his own tribe men. The current composition of his Government speaks for itself.
Yahya Jammeh is a hater, who should be apprehended. His discrimination against other tribes is getting out of hand. He puts Jollas first, before any other tribe. Look at the way, he sends his tribe men and women for overseas studies. He denied other tribes scholarships. Jammeh is building a Jolla Kingdom in The Gambia. Gambians should open their eyes. This tribal discrimination got to stop. Let us reclaim our country back. Jammeh discriminates against other tribes.!!
