Washington DC made good there long lost in the ALD tournament trophies by amashing all but one trophy in the presentation ceremony crowning the end of the week long tournament.MamBala Njie was crowned leading goal scorer whilst most valuble player and Best goal keeper also went to the host team.All this was added to the victory trophy of the host team.New York got a trophy.
Many was left to wonder about the sudden change of circumsatnces.One independent attendee speaking to this reporter wondered why such big trophies were not awarded in the previous years when DC lost.
A giant MVP trophy bigger than the victory trophy of ALD 2007 and a gold plated giant winners trophy were all very much incompatible to last years;the speaker intimated.why on earth cant an MVP and the best goal keeper not come from the other seven teams?
Another concerned participant also wondered why the coordinator of the tournament was also coaching the DC team.It defeats the purpose of fair play.He posited.
All effortsto seek reaction from the organizers proved futile but a resident of DC explained that it was worth a while because of all the investment they do in the celebration without winning for two years.
However,the program was eventful and interesting.as we witnessed the end of the celebration;we wish all Africans a happy African Liberation Day .
