Scales Thanks Gambian Government!!
Dear Mr.Editor,
May I welcome the statement from The Ministry for Foreign Affairs,of The Democratic Republic of The Gambia,confirming that Homosexuals will not be beheaded if they visit the Gambia.However, the front page news in the Banjul Daily Observer, still carries the opinion that His Excellency President Jammeh, will not tolerate any Homosexual in The Gambia.The Gay Rights organisation , which statement was carried by The Freedom Newspaper,sights legislation contained within The Gambia Constitution which protects the rights of minorities.
The British and Western Democracies, uphold the rights of those whose minority preference is to have affiliations to Civil Partnerships and which may or may not express this in homosexual activity.My understanding,is that this practice is not considered illegal between consenting adults.The difficulty that surrounds the responsibility of The British Government is towards some advice towards the safety of its citizens on foreign soil.My expression of reasonable concern to The British Government, further expresses respect to the wishes of President Jammeh and the possible moral conflict this causes.My advice for caution, over the rationality of the public statements expressed in The Daily Observer, which have not been countermanded by The Gambian Government....still in my opinion are sensible and prudent.Whilst this unknown situation persists,Her Majesties Government may be considered as cautious to minimise the possible risks involved in travel the The Gambia.The onus remains on The Gambia Government,to come clean on its policy towards Gays.Once this is made clear, the reasonable response from European Government towards the protection of all its citizens would be better advised.
I trust this clarifies my sensible and reasonable and totally impartial concerns.
