APRC Supporter Says Quality People Deserves A Second Chance!!

QUALITY PEOPLE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE

By Surahata Marong UK
Mr Editor please allows me a space to express my opinion about certain quality people who deserve a second chance.

As a concerned citizen of the Gambia, indeed a pro- supporter and I do agree with most of what the government do. Sometimes I am felt with deep sadness the ways some people are humiliated and trashed like empty rubbish cans. I kept asking myself this question, “WHY”?

I don’t think that all these firing can be justifiable. I think that the government can do better in the ways it hire and fire senior officials. I think that there should be disciplinary system in place to protect the senior workers interest. We need an employment tribunal or a body which checks the people who hire and fire people. I also think that so many lives and lively hood are being ruin by this present system in place. Moreover, added to the fact that no one system can make one very successful forever.

What I have learned about the present system in place is that, any time there is a controversial issue, someone pays the big price. When would the government start taking and accepting full responsibility? Why should it be individuals who take all the blamed.

There are certain quality people who definitely deserve a second chance, because these key people are a benefit to the government and the people of the Gambia as a whole. Instead of hiring, firing and probably rehiring, why shouldn’t exhaust all options put on the table first?

Honestly speaking people who deserve to go should definitely go, but there are people that I knew off have put the Gambia interest first, very loyal and hard working and today those very people are now being the ridicule in the society. Those people have loose friends, relative and even family members for putting our motherlands interest first. I think people who stood by you during hard time should be look after when the going get tuff no matter what.

I don’t think we have a dirty politics in the Gambia but more should be done to give the people job security. “Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them”. All we need is a government that is decisive, responsible and take actions for national interest.
