Breaking News: Gambians Complin About Poor Internet Connection!!! GAMTEL under fire!!

By Musa Jobe, Banjul

Numerous internet users in The Gambia are currently experiencing serious problems with internet connection for the past three hours.
Several internet cafes in the Kanifing municipality are closed whilst others continue to struggle with the problem. A cafe owner told this medium that the problem is a general one and has to do something with Gamtel.
Seen as a sheer indictment of the country's main telecommunications company, which has been privatised ostensibly to inject new lease of life in it, the problem with internet connection for the good part of the day is wreaking untold hardships and economic loss to users and cafe owners.
" I have travelled all the way from Yundum to Gamtel here at Westfield but to my disappointment, I am told here also that the server cannot be found.. Problems are bound to occur but this type of problem is avoidable. Is it that Gamtel has now sunk into the abyss of decay and gloomy future as continued to be rumored,"quipped an internet user.
The internet connection problem is among litany of problems that Gamtel is currently facing since changing hands. It would be recalled by readers that this paper had sometime ago reported that Gamtel is battling with hitherto unknown challenges of decay of infrastructure, dwindling staff morale, low incentives for employees among others.
