Dear Pa,
Maryland:7/21/08-Congratulations on your continued success at Freedom. I have to be candid; Freedom has become my major source of news on anything Gambia, hence keep up the good work!
However, I have noticed an uncharacteristic and disturbing trend of continued biased harassment of SOS Fatim Badjie. The last article from your reporter Ansumana Jammeh was even more disturbing, for its lack of journalistic objectivity, really what did we learn from his posting???? What….. “Information Secretary could not even managed to express herself vividly as she struggled to speak to the Editor”, really that was ground breaking?!?
What is your obsession with this girl, from her appointment; there have been endless slanderous stories about her which defy logic, yet you persist in ignorance. Also you are holding her to a standard that is quite frankly ludicrous, which Minster in any western government is judged for their performance after a mere four months in office??? Also if you actually were a fair broker, what about the other Ministers appointed the same time as her, could you inform your viewers, what if anything substantial has Dr. Omar Touray (Foreign Minister), Nancy Njie (Tourism Minister) or Marie Saine Firdaus (Justice Minster) done that is worthy of mention???
What irks me more than anything else is Gambia is suffering from massive mismanagement and foreign policy backhandedness and I do not read any article on the Finance minister, Justice Minister or External Affairs minister but rather an obsessive and meaningless concern for an Information minister, where are our priorities?!? This is why Jammeh has continued to be in power unchecked, because instead of discussing substantiative matters, we are focused on back biting, petty gossip and personal vendettas, come on Pa, we need to rise to a higher moral aptitude!
My plea to you is simple… stay on message and focus on the good fight, to bring pertinent issues of the gross mismanagement and financial abuse Jammeh and his cronies have laid on Gambia and not petty issues like what certificate SOS Fatim Badjie awarded to GRTS staff.
I hope and trust your good judgment will allow my email to you be posted as its only fair allow various opinions to be heard.
Thanks,
Musa Jobe
