Nigerian Editor Goes To Court!!

…..As Arrest Nigerian Editor Charged For Sedition in the Gambia

Banjul:7/23/08-The managing Editor of the Today Newspaper Mr.Adiamoh Abdulhamid was on Monday 21 July charged with seditious intentions contrary to the criminal code. The said charged was preferred against him by the police at their Headquarters in the Capital Banjul.

     The particulars of the charge are not known, however Mr.Abdulhamid was questioned on a photograph published on the front page of Today, which showed a boy of school going age handling metal sheets in the midst of rubbish.

     Mr.Abdulhamid was earlier arrested and questioned by the police at their Headquarter on Thursday 17 July. He was released on the same day without being charged after being held for several hours.

       The Police PRO was not yet in a position to comment. He promised to do so after doing necessary consultation.
