Speaker Receives Senegalese Children and Staff!!
SENEGALESE PARLIAMENTARIANS CHILDREN,STAFF PAY COURTESY CALL ON GAMBIAN SPEAKER

Banjul:7/30/08-The children of the Senegalese Parliamentarians and staff paid a courtesy call on the speaker of the Gambia National Assembly Fatoumata Jarhumpa Ceesay on Tuesday 29th 2008 at the National Assembly complex in Banjul.

       The aim of the visit was to strengthen bilateral ties between the two sister states.This latest visit by the Senegalese children followed an earlier visit by the sons and daughters of Senegalese security personnel last year.

       Addressing the visiting children, the Speaker of Gambia National Assembly Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay admonished lads and girls to follow the footsteps of their leaders. She further told the children to respect their parents noting that nothing in this world can be achieved in the absence of discipline.

      Speaker Jahumpa Ceesay appealed to the children of Senegalese Parliamentarians and staff to constantly reflect on the sympathetic conditions of their fellow children of the troubles Sudanese region, of Darfur.

       The Gambian Speaker further advised the children to desist from swimming in the rivers, as it poses a serious threat to their lives.

     On her part the president of Senegalese women parliamentarian Madam Anta sowe Njie expressed gratitude for having the opportunity to meet the Gambian Speaker.

       She said their four day visit to the Gambia was aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries. Madam used the occasion to thank CDS Lan Tombong Tamba and top government officials for the hospitality accorded to them since arriving in the Gambia.

     Similar sentiments were echoed by the Deputy Speaker Lamin Bojang and Mr.Babanding Daffeh,an opposition National Assembly member.

      The ceremony ended in a rather frenzy manner, as the one hundred and thirteen children dressed in white T-shirts and putting on white caps danced and sang songs promoting unity between the two state.
