AS HONOURABLE SELLU BAH REFUTES ALLEGATIONS

Banjul:8/25/08-The National Assembly Member for Basse Honourable Sellu Bah, has refuted allegations that he has threatened to prosecute Nigerians who has made it a habit of falling in love with young girls in the country.The National Assembly member made this vehement denial in a in telephone interview with the Freedom Newspaper at his residence in Basse recently.
According to him the allegations are unfounded and beyond imagination. He pointed out that he is a National Assembly Member and not a lawyer neither a prosecutor and asked; how can he prosecute. He said the information is ridiculous. He highlighted that it was the Nigerian High Commissioner, who visited Upper River Region URR, on a familiarization tour. He said during the tour, he had a meeting with the High Commissioner including the Nigerians community in URR,Chiefs and the Alkalos as well as Technical Advisory Committee(TAC). He said during the meeting, what he said was that the Nigerians should be commended for the contribution they are making towards the development of The Gambia and URR in particular, and commended the Yar'Adua Government for putting women in the foreign missions.
Going further, he said he also urged them not to take advantage of their status and resources to exploit young girls. He said this were the things he mentioned at the meeting and nothing else like prosecuting them. he emphasized.
Honourable Bah was rumoured to have mentioned over the Basse Radio during the tour of the Nigerian High Commissioner in the URR Region that Nigerians, who made it a habit of falling in love with young girls in the Gambia would be prosecuted which he vehemently denies.
