Today Newspaper Editor Charged With Sedition and Granted Bail

Banjul:8/30/08-Abdul Hamid Adiamoh,the Editor cum proprietor of Today Newspaper who was charged with seditious intention after he published that children dodge school to look for scrap metals for sale, was yesterday granted bail by magistrate Buba Jawo in the sum of two hundred thousand.

   Earlier in the day, he was brought in magistrate Mbackeh's court. But the case was not called by the court clerk .The prosecutor, Sergeant Touray rose from his seat and went to where magistrate  Mbackes was sitting and said something to him.

   His worship at this juncture decided to rescue himself from the case  and told the prosecutor  that magistrate  Jawo is the one who normally handle cases dealing with the media.

   At this juncture, prosecutor sergeant Touray went to the Defendant 's lawyer,Lamin .s.Camaold him what the magistrate told him. Magistrate Jawo was not in his court at the time and so prosecutor Touray told camara that the accused will be rearraigned before Jawo .But he was later arraigned before magistrate Jawo.

   He was later released on bail.Abdoul Hamid Adiamoh was detained at Kotu Police Station on Wednesday evening. He spent the night at the aforesaid police Station.
