BREAKING NEWS:Strike at Police training school-Ten recruits arrested,Jammeh/IGP visit PTS!!!!

While The Gambia is gripped by growing insecurity, recruits at the police training school in Yundum went on a protest march, following alleged mistreatment they allegedly suffered from their instructors, which led to President Yahya Jammeh’s sudden visit to the camp to dose the mounting tension, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively reveal. The police recruits were said to have suffered physical abuse from the hands of their trainers. Worried by the show down action sources continued, Jammeh hurriedly visited the training school in Yundum on Thursday to find out what was going on. “He, with the support of IGP Ousman Sonko, personally arrested 10 of the poor recruits. They are still under custody. This is a top secret in the country these days and people and the media are scared to talk about it. So please release it.” said our source.

JAMMEH VISITS YUNDUM

POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL TO

CALM DOWN PROTESTERS

Our correspondent says there is a growing anxiety amongst the rank and file of the police top brass, as they risked being arrested and fired by Jammeh who sources say uses coup plot stories to tame his perceived opponents. “Jammeh is so scared about it and that is why since then he has shut up for the while again. Don't be surprised if he arrests the police also and accuse them of coup. Here is a man who may likely kill all the good Gambians before he perishes.” police sources told the Freedom Newspaper.

PANIC AT YUNDUM-JAMMEH

RUSHES TO CALM DOWN RECRUITS

While the police command in Banjul are yet to make any formal statement on this alleged recruit protest march, sources say there is growing discontent in the Force. Most of the junior officers who spoke to this paper complained about lack of good pay and promotion. They accuses IGP Sonko of being inefficient. They say the IGP is not qualified for the job and never cares for their plight.

The Freedom Newspaper reporter could not reach the police for comments during the weekend. But sources confirmed about Jammeh’s visit to Yundum Police Training school to calm down the recruit protesters. Sources said some heads are expected to roll in the police in days to come.
