Leaks from NADD suggested that ML Touray will served as the coalition’s flag bearer in the coming Kombo East by election scheduled for next month. ML Touray, we learned has been unanimously nominated to contest the much talked about polls. His nomination will be finalized Wednesday at the Independent Electoral Commission, as NADD sources hinted that they have finalized the selection process at the party level.

NADD SET FOR ELECTION

The Freedom Newspaper, gathered that Touray’s nomination followed consultations made by the residents of Kombo East who appealed to both NADD and the UDP/NRP alliance to sponsor one candidate in the coming by election.

The Kombo East residents sources continued told the opposition leaders in no uncertain terms that they were not interested in seeing two opposition candidates in their constituency and therefore urged party leaders to come together and sponsor one candidate. The UDP/NRP officials could not be reached for their side of the story on this seemingly political break through.

Local observers are optimistic that if the current trend continues, the divided opposition will come together before the October polls. It is gathered that party leaders have now realized the urgency to come together following Jammeh’s wild accusations against NADD and the entire opposition.

The Freedom Newspaper was told that the chances of NADD, UDP/NRP alliance coming together was very likely, in view of the recent change of political events in the impoverished West African country. The opposition NADD are expected to issue a press release Monday to formally announce the nomination ML Touray as its flag bearer.
