Freedom Editors Dismisses Mbye’s Smear Campaign Claims “ As Utter Rubbish.”

Dear Editors,

May I bring to your attention the serious allegations made against me by the Freedom Newspaper concerning allegation that i owed GAMTEl D150, 000. Which credit Union? I never knew that even such Union exist at GAMETL. As far i know i never owed any individual or institution in The Gambia a penny and your attempts to smear my image will fail. I was made to understand recently that you are bent to discredit me at all cost due to reasons best know to you.

I am a decent human being so either you or any other person can hurt my hard credibility and record. But as a friend and former colleague i am totally disappointed by your disgraceful attempts. You are also in possession of both my emails and telephone numbers to contact me but choose to use your medium to attack my innocent person for no reason. My friend that’s not true journalism. Remember we know each other very well. I think as a decent individual you owe me an apology. Thank you.

Editors note: Thanks Mr.Mbye, for setting the records straight. We harbor no grudges against you, as falsely implied in your half-truths reaction. We have no cause to lie against you.

There is an irrefutable evidence that a  demand letter was issued by Lawyer Amie Bensouda for you to pay GAMTEL, the said sum of money. The said letter was served to the wrong person, who happens to be Alhagie Mbye, your name shake.

We have never implied in our story that you stole money from GAMTEL. We merely reproduced the content of Amie Bensouda’s demand letter. It’s not the duty of the Freedom Newspaper to pass judgment against you. We are merely performing our required journalistic duty-that’s to inform, educate and entertain.

We reported your story in good faith, without malice or prejudice. We still consider you as friend and a former colleague. But that notwithstanding, the job has to be carried out.  Journalist “ Doumboka Dombai.” Lets put friendship aside and allow independent journalism to take its cause.

We will never hesitate to apologize to you, if  we feel that we have wronged you. Based on what we have reported, we haven’t seen anywhere, we infringed on your rights as a private citizen. Please do not hesitate to educate us further,  if you still believe that an apology is the only last resort to remedy the situation. Our regards to wife and the family.
