Imam Darboe Warns Agents Of Misinformation Stop Linking Islam With Coup

The Gambia's Islamic centre widely known as Marikass has been  accused of planning to over throw president Jammeh from power. The members were suspected of harboring arms prompting the vicious National Intelligence Agency to mount thorough investigation on the Islamic centre, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively reveal. The Islamic Organization is being investigated on allegations of trafficking arms and ammunition. The agency in a preliminary confidential intelligence report says the Islamic organization was planning to over throw the Jammeh Government.

Marikass is located in downtown Bundung, about 8 kilometers from the Gambian capital city. The NIA officers were not dressed in military gears, during their trip to the Islamic centre, but were armed with guns and other light weapons  during their systematic tour of investigation in the mosque and other buildings at the centre.

The NIA agents later disclosed that they received information from the office of the President that members at the Islamic are importing arms and ammunitions from foreign countries,  in a bid to overthrow  Jammeh’s regime.

Imam Darboe,  one of the leading Imams at Marikass  in his summon advised the so-called informants of the NIA to desist from fighting the religion of God. He called on  the culprits to repent to God for spreading such lies and misinformation against the Islamic body.

However,speculations and counter speculations continue to rife over the NIA’S continuous monitoring of the activities at the Islamic centre. The NIA presence at the centre, has discouraged many from praying at the centre. The officers threatened many from attending the congregational prayers at the centre.

It is a known fact that  members of  the centre are committed  to the teachings of  the prophet Muhammead (SAW).The  state agents have  inflicted fears into the minds of the members of the Center.  

 Marikass  had contributed immensely in changing the lives of many  criminals, school dropouts and many irresponsible citizens to become followers of the teachings  of  the prophet Muhammad (SAW).These God fearing people were shocked to the bone over the allegation of harboring arms in the house of God, which they consider in some quarters as contrary to the dictates of the Quran and Hadith.

Many here believe that The Gambian President Yahya Jammeh is sick in the head. His recent move to smear the image of his Muslim brothers in the name of coup, has created an environment of uncertainty in the country. Many Muslims are angry with the President. They accuse Jammeh of undermining Islam.
