Gambian Police Undercover Sentenced To Death!!…..Principal Magistrate Kumba Sillah Imposed The Death Penalty Against Dodou Janneh

By Staff Writer Modou Sawaneh

A magistrate court in Bundung Tuesday, sentenced a police undercover agent to death, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Dodou Janneh, alias “ Dodu Boy,” who works with Gambia’s anti narcotic Unit, under the Gambia Police Force, will face the death penalty. The court found him guilty for causing the death of  22 year old  London corner boy, in the person of Sheriff Minteh.

The prosecution had earlier lined up nine witnesses, during the protracted legal tussle between the Inspector General police and the accused Dodou Janneh. Evidence adduced by the different witnesses, linked the dead row inmate to the demise of the late Sheriff Minteh.

An autopsy report, which was made available to the court also indicate that Sheriff Minteh, died as a result of the sharp long metallic object, which the convict used to stab Minteh. The medical report hinted that the deceased suffered severe internal bleeding prior to his subsequent demise.

Addressing a crowded court room Tuesday, Principal magistrate Kumba Sillah, said after reviewing all the evidence adduced before the court, she was convinced that the accused Dodou Janneh was responsible for the death of Sheriff Minteh.

The magistrate ruled that the months long trial, saw the testimonies of nine witnesses, all of whom she said affirmed that the accused killed the late Sheriff Minteh. She said the accused person’s  defence was weak and unreliable. She therefore ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond all reasonable doubts.

The presiding magistrate then pronounced the accused guilty as charged and sentenced him to death accordingly. She said the crime in question was contrary to the criminal code of The Gambia and thus found it crucially imperative to sentence the accused to death.

Mr. Janneh’s  attorney Lamin Camara asked the court to tamper justice with mercy.  Camara said the accused was a first offender and was rendering valuable services to the state.

Counsel Camara then quoted section 188 of the criminal code, arguing that the court has the jurisdiction and power under section 29(2)of the criminal code to impose less count than the one imposed by section 180. Counsel Camara finally urged the court to take his mitigation factors into consideration.

But magistrate Sillah dismisses  Camara’s appeal. She said it was about time to set drastic example in order to serve as a deterrent to would be murderers. She said the accused violated the law and should pay the price.

Shortly after the verdict was handed down, there was pandemonium, as families of the convict could be seen crying. It was a somber day in court.

The convict was placed in a waiting paramilitary car under heavy escort and whisked to the Mile Two Prisons. The death row convict could be heard saying in Wollof that "Yala mokodocal" meaning that it was God’s predestination.

On the other hand, the judgment was welcomed by the family of the late Sheriff Minteh. They praised the magistrate for upholding justice and the rule of law. They argue that such sentences would go a long way in deterring others from committing murder.

By Staff Writer Ebrima Taal, Banjul.

The mentally challenged Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh, has given directives to the Public and private media to address him as Professor Jammeh with immediate effect. Mr. Jammeh who doubles as a medical scientist want Gambians to address him as a Professor from now on. Failure to comply with the Presidential directive might warrant possible arrest, imprisonment and dismissal from the public media, said State House sources. A Statement has been aired on state media announcing the President’s new portfolio.

A former army lieutenant, Mr. Jammeh is said to be suffering from an infirmity of mind. His madness has driven him into a false elusion and fantasy.

Government sources said The Gambian leader had low IQ- and has been acting strangely in recent times. It has been gathered that due to ailing mental health problems, Jammeh could not effectively discharge his role as a President. “ He devotes part of his Presidency into false claims, fantasy and idol worshipping. He is a non believer. Jammeh is a kaffir. He does not believe in God. He worships idols. Perhaps, his demons are giving him hard time these days.”said a close associate of the President.

As the situation appears, the sick Gambian leader has elevated himself to the position of University Professor. He might as well start lecturing at the University of The Gambia.

Observers are increasingly worried about the future of this country. They say The Gambian is being presided over by a mentally challenged head of state. They call on the National Assembly to consider impeaching the President on health grounds. They warn that if the current problem persists, Jammeh is likely to throw his pants, because he has proven to the world that he is in dire need of medical help.

The observers said in order to avoid any leadership crisis in the short term, Gambians-most importantly the National Assembly should act now to salvage the country.

Across the country, people are talking about Jammeh's mental problems. Gambians are worried about what the future holds for them. Economic and political uncertainty continues to grip the former British colony.

Journalists working with the Public media said they have been forced to comply with the new Presidential directive. They said failure to comply with the new order, they might as well be sacked and imprisoned.
