….Gambian Mission In Washington DC Spying At Dissidents

By Staff Writer Fansu Kinteh, Banjul

As the Muslim feast known as “ TABASKI” approaches, security have  been beefed up at the Banjul International airport, with security agents tracking down Government perceived opponents, traveling home, aviation sources hinted today. Gambians in the Diaspora who intend to visit The Gambia, and are considered “DISSIDENTS” by the Government, should avoid landing at the Banjul International airport. Plans are afoot to arrest and jail perceived opponents upon their landing at the airport, revealed aviation sources. There is a list of wanted Diaspora Gambians, currently in the hands of Immigration agents at the airport, who are working in tandem with the feared National Intelligence Agency, the ( NIA) to implement the operation duped as “ The Foreign Enemies.”

A top operative of the National Intelligence Agency informed the Freedom Newspaper that the list of those wanted is consist of US based online contributors, political asylees, and supporters of the opposition. Our source warned  Gambians in the Diaspora to be vigilant during the Muslim holiday season, as there are sinister plans hatched by the state to arrest individuals in that list.

The NIA operative advised Gambians overseas to travel via Dakar Senegal and should avoid discussing their pending Banjul trip with loved ones, friends and family members. “ We have been briefed to tighten security around Tabaski. Our men would be deployed in major borders and at the airport. There is a list of wanted Gambians and during this period our task is to screen people entering this country. Anyone who is considered as a threat to the state, should stay away because we have enough men to enforce the operation. I have the list right before my desk as we speak.” said the NIA official.

The official said the President has been keenly reading online papers and some of the names of wanted Gambians were personally submitted to the agency by Jammeh. The official tells the Freedom Newspaper that the President believes that the West might be  “using  some of The Gambian visitors to spy on his Government.”

The NIA insider said  Amdallai Immigration Post was among their target areas, during the tracking down of Gambian visitors. The official said the Gambian Embassy in Washington DC was also keeping them posted with Gambian naturalized Citizens who planned to visit home during the Tabaski. The official said each time a Gambian US citizen obtained a visa or renew his or her passport at the DC Embassy, the NIA is usually informed ahead of time. “ They should be wary of the Embassy officials. Many a time, they would call here reporting Gambians,  who intend to visit home. I have names of folks who are victims of the Embassy.” said the NIA insider.

Attempts to reach The Gambian Mission in DC for comment proved futile.
