NRP Reacts To Freedom Newspaper Story!!!!
…No Strong Financial Base, No Politics In Africa
Hamat Bah Needs To Work To Run The NRP- Buray Jawoh
The opposition National Reconciliation Party ( NRP), under the leadership of Hamat Bah, is denying press reports that its party leader “ is neglecting the party to the expense of his own private business errands.” In a statement issued on behalf of his party leader, former NRP Administrative Secretary Buray Jawoh, vehemently rejected such reports. Mr. Jawoh said every politician needs a sound economic footing in order to survive the challenging political dust in Africa. Jawoh argues that in the absence of economic independence, it would be very hard for politicians-most importantly those in opposition camp to command their rightful role in the political arena. He attributes the defection of opposition supporters to the Ruling party to economic challenges, noting that party leaders should be able to meet the needs and aspiration of their supporters in order to stay long in politics. Mr. Jawoh who is based in New York City says Hamat Bah’s involvement in hotel operations was not only necessary, but also an important milestone towards Bah’s future Presidential dream. “Pa, for the shake of those of you who are not in politics, be advised that if any politician wants to survive as an opposition, you better have a strong independent financial base. One of the main reason why politicians or their supporters defect to the ruling party is lack of strong financial base. A person like Hon Bah, he has a family to support, pay the party’s political Bureau on a monthly basis.”Jawoh noted.

According to Buray Jawoh, politics in Africa, is a different thing altogether. For example, he says politicians are not only obliged to help extend financial help to their supporters, but also to help find jobs for them. “One would be surprised to hear throughout the year, opposition supporters would be depending on politicians for most of their personal issues. IE at one point one of our supporters traveled all the way from the provinces and told me all he wanted was for us to help pay his son’s Dowry. Some of these supporters, if you choose to ignore them, you will find them in the village during campaign when you badly need their votes.” the NRP overseas lobbyist observes.
Buray Jawoh then hailed Hamat Bah’s move to become financially independent as a politician. Jawoh said Bah acted right by engaging in hotel management job. “So Hon Bah has done the right thing by having his own independent financial base, where he can employ some of his supporters. Pa I can assure you and all those who are in doubt, that Hon Bah is more than ever committed to regaining the Upper Saloum seat and subsequently becoming the next President of The Republic.” he posited.
Finally, Mr. Jawoh said Hamat Bah is accessible to his supporters at any given time. “With regards to your alleged attempt to contact Hon Bah and was greeted by a voice mail, the simplest explanation could be either he was sleeping, busy or out of town. Hon Bah has two phones one has to know both numbers in the first instance. I am in touch with most of our supporters abroad specifically in UK, France, and Italy.USA if anyone claim to have difficulties in reaching Hon Bah he or she could reach me on my cell phone 347-366-5356 and I will ensure he gets to Hon Bah.”
Below is the unedited version of Buray Jawoh’s letter. Please read on..
Pa,allow me to react to your December 10th 2008 publication APRC swept Nianija, in which you accused Hon Bah of lack of interest in politics since he lost his Upper Saloum constituency. Most importantly, you alleged that Hon Bah is more intrested in his Hotel management than his political party. You also accused Hon Bah not accessible even to his supporters abroad. That you were greeted by a voice mail when you attempted to contact him by phone inter-alia.
