Controversy Surrounds Ambassador Sarjo Jallow’s Multiple Wife Story!!!

As Jallow’s Wife Speaks!!!!

A Bah-(rack )response to "A private Investigator"

….“Sajo Jallow is still struggling to resolve his choice of two wives. There is no third wife. Not yet anyway,.”says Jainaba Bah

Dear Mr. Mbai!

The first time I responded to your March publication on The Freedom newspaper, I was hoping that would have been the last as we call it a closed chapter.

Obviously, it seems there are forces out there religiously dedicated to wreak havoc on the Bah-Jallow household. I mean how many times in heavens name do we have to "Break News"?

Now, my friend in the South would want me to exercise some 'Kabunkaya' mute bravery here, but since I am not suffering from expressive aphasia, I would take on this last challenge with my usual Fulani stride:-)!

To "The Private Investigator" my advice and appeal is: stop fretting and simply rest your case! The Hindus will tell you " true marriages are made in heaven". I believe ours is. If my marriage to Sajo Jallow is going to end, it will happen, but not because of what someone writes for an on-line newspaper.

Secondly and most important, there is no wo(man) on this earth who can bring down my marriage with Sajo Jallow. Not even my humble-self if I want to.

The ONLY SUPREME BEING who can end this union is ALLAH (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala)! It will happen when HE deems it to end and none can do anything about it.

HE (The All Knowing and Most Compassionate) May Choose 'till death do us part", and no human-being can twitch an eye! So, let's save our breaths and redirect our energies to worthy causes!

Mr. Mbai, I want to share this with your readership: The story of Sajo Jallow and Jainaba Bah may draw attention because it is a narrative of a couple who launched their marriage from a non-conventional platform. Two people who exchanged vows of not only loving each other, but vows of making a difference in the lives of ordinary people!

Such a display of boldness may be foreign to the minimally minded! You may be from Sinchu-Balia, Wall Street or even, well, the moon but a good number of people would  want that relationship built on those foundations to stand the test of time. If we succeed in following our original ideals, falter or even fail miserably along the way should be left for history to judge!

Please, do not take this as a lecture nor a sermon! What people tend to forget is: you cannot marry someone for all these years and over-night you hate them and wish them mayhem because they committed a subjectively outrageous act. Relationships come and go, many a time too friendships dissolve in front of our very eyes.

But true love can overcome extraordinary strain. When you sincerely love and care for somebody, you demonstrate that love when they least deserve it! I LOVE HIM!

Who says: 'Dil to pagal hai, dil divani hai- The Heart is crazy, the heart is full with madness'? I have once defended him and don't regret doing so. Today, I am on the receiving end, and I will be consistent!

In a layman's language, you may want to call it staying loyal! Sajo is not just my hubby ( a word I learnt defending him), he is my friend.

I don't betray my friendships because of a misunderstanding/fracas/fall-out, nor am I going into cahoots with anyone to hang my husband because he offended me.

Whatever he did, at the end of the day his conscience will be his pillow. That brings me great comfort!

So, here we go: If Sajo Jallow abuses his office, go after him. If he embezzles tax-payers' hard earned money make him accountable, if he fails anyone of you in anyway in his capacity as a public servant make him dance to the music. If he turns a renegade, oppressing the very women he vowed to defend from day one, be my guest and join the ranks of progressive forces and politically challenge his degeneration! But when he drinks mountain dew riding a gnu somewhere in the Kalahari desert, please give the dude a break! Will ya?

Reading the piece it seems like the "private investigator" is not too happy with Sajo Jallow landing a job as ambassador designate to the AU.

Who said I, Jainaba Bah want to go to Ethiopia anyway? Sajo Jallow has been made twice an SOS in The Gambia did anyone see me playing Madame Minister?

Look, the world's number one economy (The US) is in deep recession! Stocks have dived, banks are embattled and need rescuing, a whole country (Iceland) is declared bankrupt and begging for bail-out money. Stimulus package after the next are worked upon from Japan to the auto-industry in Detroit.  Fareed Zakaria of CNN projects: "For Obama to be remembered as a great President , he has to do nothing less than rescue Capitalism"

What does this spell for the rest of the world? For our continent, our country? Food prices are on the rise - to curb world hunger all we need is $30 billion, yet one country's military budget is a staggering $550 billion. Two wars in Congo and Darfur. Restlessness in Somalia. Pa Mugabe is at this hour holding Zimbabweans hostage after defeating his own personal legend as a liberation fighter. Someone from Tambasansang may want to throw a tantrum at that, sorry your eminence!

As I write, corpses are buried in The Gaza strip. I mean these are the issues of the day, of our time that need solutions and worth News-Breaking!

And then ALLAH (SWT) Brought us Barack Obama with a smile, a promise of hope, beautiful family, the whole package, during these powerful transformative times!!

Now,  let us celebrate Obama's anointment on the 20th and, allow 2009 and beyond be years of making our own histories in any progressive way possible by drawing inspiration from Barack's Bravura!

Mr. Mbai, I cannot impose my will on you, nor would I ever want to do so under any circumstance, but here is a humble appeal: please do me one great favour! Ignore (by deleting) any more article with my name concerning my marriage or its imminent disintegration.

You have given me more than my fair share of fifteen minutes! Kindly allow me to descend the stage with my integrity intact and this piece as end of story!

Thank you for giving me the space and have blessed Friday!

"We are nothing on earth, if we are not first of all slaves of a cause; the cause of the people; the cause of liberty;the cause of justice." Frantz Fanon (The wretched of earth)
