An Introduction to the New Column: THE FUTURE

Fellow Gambians,

I welcome you to this special column of the Freedom Online Newspaper. This is the special column for 2009 and it is the first of its kind. This column is unique in all its forms and manifestations. It is run by a young person called The Democrat and it expresses only the candid opinion of Gambian young people at home and abroad.

We are young people who feel and know that they have moral obligations and indeed time bound goals to remake the Gambia into what it should be rightfully after 15 years of dictatorship, hardship, brutality, chaos and interminable havoc for our people. These young people are the true sons and daughters of the our homeland.

 The Future, is a column that would make the Gambia Government go “WOW”… This column, shall provide for you in-depth analysis of situations in the Government Room of the Gambia and it shall leave no stone on turn with the current affairs of every Department of State and of course we all know, the Office of the President.

As young people, we rise to speak up and defend our nations. We cherish the Gambia a lot and indeed want to make it a better place for our generation and even the generations yet unborn. But we know well, that with our current leadership, this dream would be far from being achieved. Yet still, we rise to stand the test of time, and just like the proud American people of today, we say yes we can. With him gone, a real and meaningful change shall come to our nations and the future shall definitely as bright as we are.

We know we have an obligation towards the future and just like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we will make our own movement towards liberating our mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters and the entire Gambian society from the ropes of inhumanity, brutality and barbarism, which they are tied up with. We shall bring our people to freedom and it starts now.

It is crystal clear, that we have a duty and the duty starts. Having this column is a practical sample of our commitment to bring about change. We are the future; we are the hope! And yes we can…. Why Not? We must remember, we all have responsibilities to fulfill and we will play our own part. We are ready to die to free and liberate our people. We promise the future shall be liberated and freed. And we shall participate in our own democracy no matter what. Above all we shall empower every young person and we shall enforce the rule of law, which is just of lip-service in the Gambia today. We are ready to die and we hope you are!

Yes we can, WHY NOT? And Yes we will, WHY NOT?
