Gainako Newspaper Felicitates Freedom

Mbai & your entire team,

Congrats to Freedom Newspaper

Team Gainako (GON) congratulates you on your anniversary. Time goes fast and the struggle doesn't wait for any one. Silence is the weakest level that can grip any peace-loving Gambian. There are many things at stake, and as such the muzzle on the home media by repressive laws on the ground means nothing now, because the online papers in their entirity came to define courage, motivation, activism and true support to those in need of our voices. It is therefore in our National interest that we choose the best agendas (the best wars to wage) to uplift our standards and promote a peaceful Gambia, because Jammeh will be history soon and the Gambia will remain. Criminal rulers do listen, and once we take to silence, then they increase their madness. If we make noises, that hits them with panic-fear timely. With a unified force, criminal rulers are stripped naked of their oppression tendencies, because power belongs truly to the people and hence oppressors are scared of even the noise that comes from their shoes.

As you celebrate, a reflection on the many gone and other prisoners of conscience must be in our minds. It is true that the struggle has just began. The ink of the pens will not run out, and the white pages are in their countless piles. Freedom, like the many other papers engaged in the enlightenment of Gambians over the years. That trend must continue without stop. The joke I hear around that "Pa Nderry is wanted by Jammeh," and  I teased back that "Jammeh is wanted by Pa Nderry." That is a fair stand point. Your celebration came at a time when your former Boss, Uncle Pap Saine of the Point Newspaper is in trouble with the unfriendly Jammeh administration. I condemn his arrest in the biggest terms and I am telling the new professor in town, Jammeh to wisen-up a little. I am tired of his complexity.

At GON, we remain humble servants and associates to the entire struggle, and kindly accept our token of words -re-assuring good wishes and togetherness in this struggle. Our uniform gentle operations through our editors ML Jallow, Demba Baldeh, Hometown Correspondent (Mighty Solo), supporting contributors like Cherno B. Jallow, the many others like Aisha, and the countless others, recognizes the fact that there are broad things to cover and there is indeed interest in mutual partnership. That's why we value Freedom and all the many other outlets.

I Say to you and Freedom, Jamboye! Aluta continua! Jamboye Gambia!

Very Sincerely,

Yero Jallow (USA)

On behalf of entire team GON.
