Facts are emerging at this hour regarding the circumstances surrounding Fatim Badjie’s removal from office. A highly placed source close to the corridors of power in Banjul, said Fatim Badjie should be hailed by Gambians for her courageous move in refusing to be used by the Banjul mafia to sell the nation’s main telecommunication giant GAMTEL to a Lebanese bogus company, whose economic base is questionable by all standards. Fatim according to our well trusted source in the heart of the Jammeh Government, had  suffered numerous pressure from the powers that be to sell GAMTEL to a Lebanese business firm, shortly after the cancellation of the Spectrum Group contract with Government. Fatim, until a week before her sacking,  was not satisfied with  the Lebanese companies, which moved in to takeover GAMTEL. She got fired for blocking the President and his fellow mafia operatives from pursuing their set goal-that’s  to mortgage GAMTEL.

Fatim Badjie, 25, the youngest Gambian Minister in history,  was on record for having told Government that GAMTEL was the country’s main economic nerve and therefore should not be sold to Lebanese companies with questionable credentials. This to some extent, continued our source does not go down well with the Banjul mafia, whose pre-occupation is to lure the President into corrupt practices that would deprive the nation millions of dalasis.

The unsuspecting Fatim Badjie, never knew that she had step her toes on what we call here as the “UNTOUCHABLE MAFIA GROUP.” These folks run Banjul. Public officials who defy their orders risked being sacked, arrested and jailed.

Since her decisive move in canceling the Spectrum deal with Government, Fatim Badjie has been a target for possible elimination by the  Mafia group. She receives numerous death threats from aggrieved parties, who thought she was a stumbling block to their economic success. There are phone records available to corroborate my statement, said our source.

Muhammed Bazzi and Amadou Samba featured prominently in this intelligence report, which was declassified to the Freedom Newspaper by a highly placed source. Both Bazzi and Samba have been accused of misleading the President, just to facilitate the sale of GAMTEL. Fatim Badjie, who turns out to be the scapegoat, was later isolated by the President. President Jammeh in the end, reconciled with Muhammed Bazzi.  They are now  working on selling GAMTEL to  a Lebanese business firm, said our sources.  Bazzi said our sources recently accompanied the President to the AU Summit. He runs the President’s business errands. If anyone tells you that Bazzi is in the bad books of the President is telling you a lie. Jammeh and Bazzi are good friends. Amadou Samba is on the other hand undermining Fatou left and right. He is an evil,”said our source.

According to our sources Bazzi and his fellow Mafia Group are still in control of the system. “ It’s unfortunate that Fatim Badjie has fallen victim of the mafia group. The President is being remote controlled by Bazzi and Amadou Samba. She fought  tooth and nail to tackle the mafia group, but at the end of the day,  they succeeded in getting her fired. The President does not want an honest worker. Fatim was honest, upright and faithful to her country. She never wants to be part of the dirty criminal activities of the mafia group. The good news is that… even if Jammeh was replaced today, Fatim has nothing to  worry. She is as clean as a diamond. She refuses to be used against her will.”said our source.

        Omar Ndow Hired To Sell GAMTEL

Following Fatim Badjie’s refusal to be used by the President and his mafia group in crime, Jammeh resorted to hiring Omar Ndow, an official recently indicted for economic crimes. Ndow who had his case dismissed is now the new emissary for Yahya Jammeh. He has been tasked to dispose of GAMTEL. The GAMTEL sale deal shall be finalized in a month or so, said our sources.

According to our sources, Ndow had no alternative but to dance to the dictates of the President and his co partners in crime. “ Here was a guy who was jailed and humiliated by the President for stealing public coffers. He is back at the Information Ministry to do a dirty job for the Banjul mafia. Omar has been  hired do a dirty job for Jammeh, Bazzi and Samba, which Fatim refuses to do for the sake of posterity. Fatim has made it categorically clear to the President that her conscience does not allow her to engage in activities that might put her integrity into question. She prefer  to be fired than to compromise Gambia’s interest. She has always opposed the sale of GAMTEL,.”said our source.

While Bazzi and his group are busy rejoicing over the sacking of Fatim Badjie, the reality is that this country has been hijacked by Bazzi, Samba and others, said my source. “ Lack of education is a disease. The President is being exploited by the Banjul mafia because of his lack of education. Here is a person who can be easily be manipulated. He acts on things without thinking. He is being dictated by these people.”said our source.

    GAMTEL MD Katim Touray To Be Fired   

According to my loyal sources, Katim Touray’s reinstatement was facilitated by Fatim Badjie. “ Evidently, Fatim’s departure will no doubt affect Katim’s job. Omar Ndow would be instructed to sack anybody loyal to Fatim. Therefore, Katim’s job is on the line. He might as well be fired.” Our source lamented.

Our source went on to add that Katim and other GAMTEL senior staff members were fired by Muhammed Bazzi and his group, shortly after they took over the establishment. The same scenario is likely to follow once Omar Ndow take full charge of the Ministry, our source posited.

                       Scratch Card Scam

The highly placed source said Fatim Badjie inherited a big mess from the erstwhile Information Minister Neneh Macdowl Gaye. According this source, who is very familiar with the Banjul mafia group, said Ms. Gaye during her tenure in office signed a phone card contract with a Nigerian company. The said contract, the source went, on was reached clandestinely. Our source said Fatim was not privy to the content of the contract details, which is now causing problem for the ministry. Our source said a significant amount of expired scratch cards had found its way into the market. All these, the source went on, was partly Neneh’s own blunder, as she never vetted the company’s track record.      

              Freedom Newspaper Blockage      

Our source said Fatim Badjie has nothing do with the Freedom Newspaper blockage. “ Fatim came in when the paper was already blocked by the Government. The President gave instructions for the Freedom Newspaper to be blocked in The Gambia. This was during Neneh Macdowl Gaye’s tenure. Fatim even wanted to lift the ban, but she was told not to do so. It's  wrong for anyone to point accusing fingers against her. She is very innocent,.” said our source.
