Jammeh’s Convoy Killed 15 Year Old Boy- Police Spokesman Said

By Staff Writer Bolong Jammeh, Banjul.

President Yahya Jammeh’s convoy killed a 15 year old boy on the spot along the Kombo Coastal road late Friday evening, police here said on Saturday. A spokesman of The Gambia police Force tells the Freedom Newspaper that the boy was crossing the road, when the speeding Presidential convoy ran on him, thereby killing him on the spot. The police spokesman said the incident occurred at Yarambamba village,  along the Kombo Coastal road.

The Gambian President who was retreating to his Kanilai villa for the weekend after a week of intensive meetings with visiting officials from neighboring countries, proceeded without having the courtesy to check the boy’s status of health, said eyewitnesses. Witnesses say the boy was left to struggle to death, without any medical attention accorded to him.

A pathologist is expected to conduct a postmortem before the deceased is released to his family. The autopsy report contained information about the possible cause of death, but due to fear of being arrested, many doctors here are afraid to provide independent opinion about cases of such nature.

Many were taken aback by the state guard's lack of sympathy, as they could be seen speeding towards Kanilai. For more on this story, stay tuned.

Jammeh Donates Half A Million Dollars To The Late Guinean President Conteh- Reveals Government Findings!!!

…..As Guinean Junta Trails Conteh’s  Assets

By Staff Writer Michael Dacosta, Banjul.

Barely few months after the demise of  Guinean President Alasana Conteh, details are emerging regarding his ties with Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh. Jammeh’s name featured prominently on the list of donors, who extended financial help to the then ailing Guinean leader. According to dependable sources, the Gambian leader made a personal donation to Alasana Conteh in the sum of $500,000 dollars. Conteh who owned estates and supermarkets in Morocco and elsewhere across the  African continent was among the beneficiaries of Jammeh’s dollar spree handouts.

Under his capacity as Gambia’s President, Jammeh secretly transferred the said funds to the Guinean leader, without any formal accountability. The Gambia is one of the poorest countries in the world, but yet its leader is able to make such lofty donations. The Guinean media are questioning the source of Jammeh’s wealth. Many were taken aback by the magnitude of such gesture coming from an impoverished nation like The Gambia.

The late Alasana Conteh is being investigated by the new military junta headed by Captain Camara. It has been gathered that Yahya Jammeh has business interest in Guinea and Morocco. Sources said Jammeh and Conteh were business partners.

The half a million dollars Jammeh extended to the Guinean leader was never made public to the people of the both nations, Guinea and The Gambia. Sources said the Junta were surprised by the amount of corruption perpetrated by the erstwhile Guinean Government, under the leadership of Alasana Conteh.

President Jammeh was among the first African leaders who condemned the Guinean coup. He faulted President Wade’s move to support the coupists. Jammeh said coups deserve to be condemned by all pro democracy activists. He urges the junta to adhere to the timetable designed by the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) to return the country to civilian rule.

Sources close to corridors of power in Banjul said Jammeh’s support for Conteh was motivated by secret business deals he reached with the late Guinean leader. Conteh, continued our sources was Jammeh’s main  contact person during the illegal gun running, which ravaged  impoverished nations such as: Liberia and Sierra Leone. Sources said the President’s personal jet was being used to smuggle arms to Guinea Conakry in exchange for diamonds from ward lords in both countries. Our sources urge the junta to  mount investigations into the clandestine sale of guns by the two leaders to former fighters in Liberia and Sierra Leone.

The President’s plane was grounded shortly after the United Nations passed a resolution indicting his close associate Baba Kajali Jobe, who was linked to gun running and blood diamond sale by the UN Security Council.

The new Millennium plane, which belongs to President Jammeh was also listed as the main source of transportation of illicit diamonds and guns into the sub-region. The UN ordered for the impounding of the said plane, if spotted in any jurisdiction including former indicted officials.

Concerned by the potential risk of having his private jet seized by the United Nations, President Jammeh launched an appeal through the Taiwanese Government to help secure him a new plane. Authorities in Taiwan responded positively by extending financial help to Jammeh, who is accused of helping  rebels in Sierra Leone and Liberia to cause mayhem in the manoriver Union.

According to competent sources here in Banjul, President Jammeh recently dispatches his wife Zeinab Suma Jammeh, whose late father was a Guinean to help facilitate the safekeeping of his assets in Guinea. During her visit, Madam Jammeh met with former close associates of Alasana Conteh. It is not clear if the new Government in Guinea were able to lay their hands on Jammeh’s properties, but sources intimated that the President owns multi million dollars investment in Guinea Bissau.

Besides, building an estate for his wife, Jammeh also owns shopping centers in that French speaking country. Sources said the President has been diverting state resources into his own personal gains. Mr. Jammeh has been ranked as one of the most corrupt leaders in the world.

Many observers believe that the time has come to replace him through any means to avoid political instability in The Gambia, where the average citizen lives below one US dollar. There is growing economic harship in The Gambia. Unemployment is said to be on its peak level, while hopelessness gripped the populace.

Efforts to solicit reaction from the Director Press at the President’s office proved futile. He was indisposed for comments.
