….Gambian Celebrity Says He Cares About His Integrity

Lama Also Intends to Return The Honda Civic

By Staff Reporter Musa Suso, Wellingara

The  dispute between The Gambian DJ Modou Taal,  and Edwin Chijioke, a Nigeria over the sale of a Honda Civic  is on the verge of being settled, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. The defendant Taal, who self styled himself as comedian Lamarana Jallow, told this reporter that come Thursday the 2nd of April,  he will pay the plaintiff his money.  The plaintiff Chijioke in a court deposition said he made  numerous attempts to recover his money from the defendant Taal without success. He has sold a Honda Civic to Mr. Taal who works at Unique FM radio, which is owned by Gambian Journalist Lamin Manga. Taal failed to  show  up in court claiming that he never received the writ of summon in time. Now that the matter is before the media, he said he has decided to clear his image by paying the plaintiff his hard earned money. He also said he will return the Honda Civic to Mr.  Chijioke.

Speaking to our reporter, Mr. Taal said it was never his wish to miss court. “"I received  the writ of summon  on the very day the court was scheduled for hearing. I know I have to pay the man but unfortunately after giving  him the said money several times he refused to take it. I have no alternative but to keep the money, until he deems it imperative to receive it. I am really discouraged. I shall see the magistrate tomorrow to see what can be reached. If anything,  I shall give him his money  and I  would also return the car to him. It will cost me nothing at all .  I want to make my name clean.  I  want image in tact,” Lamarana tells the Freedom Newspaper.

Many opined that a celebrity like Lamarana should avoid such scandals. They argue that if he continues to engage in such acts, he will soon run out of audience.

Modou Musa Ceesay, a business counterpart of Lama observes that Jallow  needs to redeem his character. He warns that a shattered integrity is hard to repair, and therefore, Jallow should safeguard his integrity at all times. "He is a good guy,  but with this  simple stains he might  be judged differently,” he said.

According to sources, Jainaba Nyang, another artist had asked Lama to join them in their show, but having heard this news about Lama, she said,” I am skeptical about Lama performing with us. But let us wait and see," she said.

Lama is apparently worried, as he could be seen walking around, talking to himself. Many believe that he could receive help from some  quarters if he solicits for assistance. Lamin Manga his boss is in the position of helping him, said core worker.  His fellow workers believe that the problems facing Lama is not of his making that some people want to see his down fall.  Lama is a leading comedian in The Gambia.

"This is not Lamas first appearance in court. He was in court recently for breach of contract when he refused to show up after a 23,000 Dalasis contract failed. He was asked to do an advert on the television. “Said our source.  As if that was not enough, this one has come on him again. May be he will redeem his image," said one of his friends.
