Mr. President, reconciliation, reconciliation, reconciliation!!!! Chei!!! Jammeh reconciling with who? The timing of your call is a cause for concern. We do know that there is hidden motive behind your so called National reconciliation. Gambians have been wronged by your government over the years and there was no serious move on your side to reconcile with our people.
Mr. President, our people are no fools to be taken for a ride by your “politric games.” We do know that your sole intention is to lobby for National support for the coming African Union Summit to be held in Banjul. You want to tell your colleagues that Gambians are united, when in actual fact you have destroyed the fabric of society in this country. The whole idea behind the national reconciliation call as preached by your syphocants was to tame the opposition and voices of dissent. That you don’t want them to expose the rights abuses taking place in The Gambia.
Last week, you met with the opposition big wigs and asked them to help you to maintain the ship of state. That there is a historic meeting taking place in Banjul and you needed their support to make such a meeting a success. Jali Omar Fye, Neneh and co also organized a meeting with the press with the sole aim of lobbying for support. That Gambians should be tolerant and stop sensational journalism.
Mr. President, Gambians can only reconcile with you provided that you tell us who murdered veteran journalist Deyda Hydara. We also want to know who killed former Finance Minister Ousman Koro Ceesay. The families of the November 11, bogus abortive coup are eagerly waiting to know where their loved ones where buried. How about journalist Omar Barrow and the April 10 and 11 student massacre? Reconciliation should start with such high profile crimes against the state. There cannot be reconciliation, when your hit squads are working day and night to terrorize Gambians.
Mr. President, there is nothing more honorable for one to admit atrocities committed by his government and appeal for forgiveness. The truth be told, it is easy to forgive than to forget. These aggrieved families have been denied their loved ones and nothing can make them forget about their murdered sons and daughters. We expect the national reconciliation to center on these unresolved cases hanging on the air and nothing else.
Mr. President, your hopes will be dashed away, as Gambians will not be easily moved by such politically motivated calls. This should be the time for the opposition and members of civil society to organize showdown actions to call for the relocation of the African Union Summit. Banjul is not the right place to host such an important meeting. The country lacks democracy, political and economic stability.
The opposition and the press stand to be accused of aiding and abetting a dictatorship when they joined Jammeh in his faked call for reconciliation. He wronged Gambians and it is his duty to admit responsibility for the crimes committed by his government. We should not be moved by such cheap call for reconciliation.
Mr. President, our people are angry and nothing can change their dislike for your dictatorial government. We are not surprised by your call for national reconciliation. Knowing that your days are numbered, you wanted to use such political gimmicks to play with the gallery. No, No, No, Jammeh!!!! Our people are no fools. A day will come, God willing you will cry in the court rooms for forgiveness. We know what we are talking about.
Your own people said they are ready to disown you when the ship of state capsized. The likes of Neneh, Omar, “intellectual prostitute” Saja Taal will bid you farewell on your way out of power. The same people will say they were under duress to support Jammeh. There are a lot of things going on Jammeh and you are too “chicken headed” to know the information we are privy of. This statement is not intended to give you sleepless nights. But the bigger national reconciliation day is nearing. Have a Good day, Mr. President.
