The Regional Director of the German Charitable Organization widely known as SOS Hermann Gmeiner, has been engulfed in a what appears to be an alleged corruption scandal, local sources have claimed. Mr. Kittle, who served as the Organization’s regional Director has been named in a corruption schemes allegedly perpetrated during his watch as the head of the sub regional body. Sources close to the organization informed the Freedom Newspaper that Mr. Kittle is at the center of a controversy, as he allegedly favors GECTRA, a company, he awards all SOS contracts, without inviting prospective bidders. Sources charged that Kittle has monopolizes the organization to a point that he does not bother inviting prospective tenders for such important contracts, thus putting his integrity, and reputation at risk.
According to informed sources, there are competent private contractors equally good as GECTRA, a company believed to be owned by the SOS regional Director, and were excluded from bidding for contract opportunities in the establishment.
The supposed proprietor of GECTRA is one Antoine, but sources said Mr. Kittle, the regional Director of SOS Hermann Gmeiner is the rightful owner of the company. Our sources went on to explain that GECTRA runs SOS projects in The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde and elsewhere across the African continent.
Allegations are abound that the German Charitable Organization SOS is being over charged by GECTRA, with bogus expenses, when according to our sources, such projects could be financed at a reasonable cost. "Where they are to pay One Dalasi, they charge Ten Dalasis, and no negotiation is done. SOS will just pay in time. We see it as unfair and one person is getting richer than every body. I call this a gross injustice," the sources said.
Sources further intimated that water tank that sells for 8,000 Dalasis, they will charge for 16, 000 Dalasis. This goes on in Cape Verde, Gambia, Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau.
Sources also said the SOS under the leadership of Kittle is not transparent, and accountable. For example, said our sources, non of the contracts awarded to GECTRA were publicized in any of the local newspapers-be it in The Gambia, Freetown, Guinea Bissau and elsewhere. Sources say lack of accountability is undermining the image of the current SOS leadership. They call on the relevant authorities to look into the activities of the current SOS administration.
Meanwhile, the Basse construction project has been completed. The said project was awarded to GECTRA, source said.
The Regional Director of SOS Kittle could not be reached for immediate comment at press time.
