Still More Questions left unaswered
By Sheriff
It is obvious that there are still more questions left unanswered by Yahya Jammeh and his mafia counterparts. I am not scared to talk and I will never be scared to talk. I started by writing my articles by wiriting my name as THE DEMOCRAT but Mr. President, I have got enough of you and I have to come out point blank. Do not take my writings as threats, these are challenges for us all Gambians.
True, we are facing hard times and nothing is easy in our today’s world; but governments around the world are doing all they can to stabilise the current economic hardship their countries are going through. It is such a shame that in the 21st Century, after attaining Independence to date, The Gambia is going through what I personally describe as the worst form of social and economic exploitation via modernized colonialism by your government. But let me remind you that whatever goes up must come down – what goes around comes around! We all use this adage but we do not know what it really means. But you will when the clock ticks for your judgment day.
Gambians today have lots of questions to ask. The fear of your brutality keeps them away from asking. The rule of law is undermined; human rights is completely nonexistant in The Gambia; dictatorship has taken root, and nasty politics has become the order of the day. I was just a child when you took over the country in 1994; should I say a little baby who just knew his left and right hands. But every memory of that day is as fresh in my mind as your most recent uncalled-for activities. You promised to stay only for two years for the transitional government and handover to civilian rule. How sad to know that 2 years of transition is still going on because Gambia has no constitutional rule. If there was constitutional rule, then citizens would be given the liberty to participate in their own democracy and actively perform their constitutional rights.
Yet still, as of 1997, you lured poor Gambians into voting for a constitution you designed just to suit your mesirable-selfish life and self-enrichment goal. In 1994, during your first interview with the Daily Observer, remember you promised Gambians that you will change the term of Presidency from indefinate to just two terms as dictated by the principles of democracy. Have you ever asked yourself, how long you have stayed and when you will be heading back to the barracks as you promised Gambians in 1994.
Gambians were more in peace without you than they are now. You have caused more than chaos and anarchy in our little country than even the colonial days. To my surprise, you claim to fear Allah but guess what, you have no fear of Him. In 2006, you promised the people of Brikama that you shall erect a new hospital as of December 2007. Now it is 2009, not even a foundation stone has been laid. Do you want me to remind you of your promises? I guess I should?
TONY DAA BAA, it is sad that Vision 2020 is far from being achieved. I am not seeing any transformation in The Gambia. How aweful! We will sit for eternity if we are waiting for Vision 2020 to be achieved. How can we even achieve the Millennium Development Goals if there is no human rights and democracy. Autocracy takes no country forward and your aim of transforming The Gambia into the Hell of Africa will not even progress by a quarter of a percentage. We are not fools – if that's what you are supposedly thinking. May Allah have mercy on you? Come on, SAY AMEN JAMMEH because you know very well you need His mercy.
