Assan Manneh Of Raleigh Dies
In A Car Accident In Gambia!!!!
The death of Raleigh resident Assan Manneh, has been announced. Mr. Manneh who met his tragic death Saturday, was on a visit to his native country, The Gambia, when he died. He died during an automobile accident along the Sebanoor-Kanilai battered roads, sources reaching the Freedom Newspaper revealed.
Survived by two kids, and an American wife, Mr. Manneh’s home visit turns out to be a tragedy, as he prematurely died, while travelling to President Jammeh’s home village of Kanilai. All the other passengers in the car, including his American friend, whose name could not be established at the time of filing this story survived.
The late Assan Manneh was at the rear passenger seat during the crash, which sent a shocking waves within, and outside the Gambian frontiers. News of his sudden demise was greeted with “shock” by The Gambian Community in North Carolina.
Sources said Manneh, and others were supposed to meet the President Yahya Jammeh, when the tragic accident occurred. The visit never materializes. Manneh was pronounced death minutes after the accident.
The circumstances surrounding the actual cause of the accident was yet to be revealed, but sources said bad roads account for many death related automobile accidents in The Gambia.
Our Managing Editor Pa Nderry MBai said he saw Mr. Manneh two weeks before his travel to The Gambia. “ I met Assan two weeks ago. As usual, he was smiling, and laughing. We exchanged greetings, and I left. His demise came as a big shock to me. We pray for his eternal rest. Our heartfelt condolence goes out to his family in The Gambia, and in the US. Assan was a disciplined, hardworking, sociable and religious young man. We will really miss him,” said Editor M’Bai.
Meanwhile, Assan’s wife, and two kids are working on travelling to The Gambia for the burial. Efforts are also being made to open a bank account for donation to the bereaved families. We will keep you posted with developments.
