Bojang
As Fear Grips Gambian Leader!!!
By Staff Reporter Kebba Jammeh, Banjul
Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh has demoted Major General Gibril Bojang to the rank of private and also dismissed him from the Army, with immediate effect, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The decision to fire Gibril Bojang was contained in a statement announced last evening by the office of the President. Bojang was the state guards commander and was given the post recently when the shake up occurred at the military two weeks ago, following the sacking of CDS Lang Tombong Tamba and other senior military officers.
Sources close to the state house told us that Private Bojang’s sacking was due to his sympathizing of his former boss Lang Tombong Tamba. Fear looms over The Gambia army as more are on the line , preparing for their marching orders.
A senior army official told this paper that the President is suffering from insecurity, as he tried to appease the army at the same time weeding out its suspected disloyal soldiers. General Tamba has a strong loyal base support within the armed forces. His removal would likely cost Jammeh his Presidency, the army official warned.
The Freedom Newspaper recently reported that with the NIA in disarray, coupled with the leadership deficiency facing the army, the state guards could singlehandedly wage a successful coup against the Jammeh administration. The President responded the same day by firing his State House Commander Gibril Bojang.
