Minister

Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh has fired his Forestry Minister with immediate effect, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Minister Momodou Kotou Cham received his sacking letter today, sources said. Cham was the Minister responsible for Forestry, and the Environment.
A news release issued by the President’s office said the President acting on the powers conferred on him by the constitution has decided to send the Minister packing. Mr. Cham has been replaced by Jatto Sillah, the erstwhile Forestry Director. No reasons were advanced for his removal.
Many Gambians approached in the past to serve this administration turned down such offers. They cite lack of job security, and reliability of Jammeh’s Government.
