Jammeh Fires Health Minister Dr. Mariatou Jallow!!!

Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh has resumed his sacking spree of Public Servants. The latest causality is Health and Social Welfare Minister Dr. Mariatou Jallow. Dr. Jallow, who used to serve as Royal Victoria Hospital Chief Executive officer, Health Director respectively, has been dismissed with immediate effect. Madam Jallow has been replaced by Dr. Aboubacarr Gaye. 

A statement issued by the office of the President said according to Section 71 (4b) of the Constitution of the Gambia and the powers conferred on His Excellency President Yahya AJJ Jammeh today sacked Dr. Mariatou Jallow of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare with effect from  30th October, 2009. No reason was advanced for the Minister's unceremonious sacking.

Reports have it that the President was upset by recent Freedom Newspaper news reportage quoting health officials as saying that wrong bodies were sent to Ghana for decent burial. “ Your paper reported the truth. The President is very upset with the leakage of the information. Dr. Jallow has not committed any crime. She was made to lie about death bodies, which does not belong to Ghana. The President is wondering where the Freedom Newspaper is getting such highly classified state secrets.  Ghana should reject the so called bodies coming from The Gambia. These are not Ghanaians, but Gambian citizens. This President is a liar. He wants to use the likes of Dr. Jallow to deceive Ghanaians,”said our source.

 Last week, the President sacked his Forestry Minister Momodou Kotu Cham.  He also fired his army  Chief General Tamba,  alongside with other top military officials. Many here believed that the President is suffering from mental problem. That he has gone insane.
