UK Deports Gambian Asylum Seeker Today!!!!!

…Sukai Jack Risked Being Killed If Deported!!!

Sukai Jack, a Gambian asylum seeker in the United Kingdom, would be deported to her native country, The Gambia today Tuesday November 3rd 2009, according to well placed sources reaching this paper. Madam Jack ran out of luck,  when British authorities dismissed her asylum appeal case. She has exhausted numerous appeals, contesting  the court’s decision ordering for her immediate departure from the country. She claimed that she would  be arrested, and possibly murdered upon her arrival in The Gambia.

Residents of Salford in the UK convened a vigil march Monday evening, urging British authorities to help reverse the decision to deport Madam Jack. The people of Salford have been instrumental in fighting Sukai’s case. They spoke high of Madam Jack, who suffered rape, torture, and death threats while in state custody in The Gambia.  She was accused of taking part in a military coup in March of 2006 , a charge she repeatedly denied.

Madam Jack escaped to the UK immediately she was released from prison custody.  Her attempts to secure safe-heaven in the UK was turned down. Immigration authorities are not convinced that she would be killed if forcefully deported to her home country The Gambia, where secret disappearances and killing of political opponents are common routine.

Like all former deportees from the UK, Madam Jack too would  suffer the same fate,  if forcefully thrown out of the United Kingdom.  She must be very lucky to be jailed, as death awaits her if deported.

The mere fact that Sukai Jack’s case has received such International media attention, there is no doubt that if deported she would be harmed by Gambia’s state agents.

Some of the coup suspects arrested alongside with Sukai Jack, have been murdered by The Gambian state. Among them,  was  former Intelligence Chief Daba Marena, and four other security officials. Madam Jack’s own former boss Tamsir Jasseh, who is facing 20 years jail term,  has been paralyzed thanks to the torture he suffered from the hands of his torturers. Jasseh is an American subject. His chances of returning home with a clean bill of health after his jail term, is virtually impossible, as he has been handicapped by his captives.

Sheriff Bojang  junior, a Gambian journalist, who was forcefully deported from the UK, was questioned by the feared National Intelligence Agency on arrival in The Gambia last year. Bojang was able to escape to neighboring Senegal, where he currently sought protection. He ran for his life, as armed security agents were dispatched to arrest him death or alive.

Meantime, The Gambian Government is busy trying to extradite asylum seekers in Italy, whose asylum claims were premised on transgender. The Government accuses the applicants of “smearing the image” of the country. If deported, the applicants are likely to be killed or jailed for life.

Madam Jack is a rape victim, as testified in her asylum deposition. She also suffered torture,  while in state custody.  Her case deserved attention. We are calling on the British authorities to stay the deportation proceedings filed against Madam Jack. She should be given protection until such a time that democracy is fully restored in The Gambia. Forcefully deporting her, means aiding and abetting killers. There is no doubt that she would be harmed if deported.
