The embattled former speaker of the  Gambia national Assembly Fatoumata  Jahumpha Ceesay last Sunday hired a taxi to the Bijilo Beach where she offered some spiritual sacrifice to the waters, in order to regain her post as the speaker of the National Assembly, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. FJC,  as she is fondly called also travelled to Niumi in North Bank region, where she consulted a Marabout to help her overturn Jammeh’s decision to regain her position as speaker of the county`s law making body.

Since her unceremonious sacking, FJC  is rarely seen in public view, but of recent times she is fighting tooth and nail to get back as the speaker.  She was recently seen at the Kairaba hotel during the launching of an album of a local band.  

Many Gambians believed in such spiritual work. The former Speaker’s  latest move  is being viewed here as an act of desperation. She is so desperate to be rehired by the President.

On the other hand, sources said  FJC is using Marabouts to avoid facing economic crime charges. She was accused of neglecting National Assembly projects, together with the former Fisheries Minister Yankuba Touray.  No charges were filed against the two former public officials.
