Faces D1 Million Dalasis Fine!!!

Gibril Bojang, the embattled former commander of the state guards was remorseful of the crime he committed, when he was seen weeping as Magistrate Nkea of the Banjul magistrate Court pronounced his sentence to 2 years mandatory jail term and ordered him to pay up to one million dalasis in default he serve another 2 years behind bars. Bojang is alleged to have stolen a substantial amount of money from the President's kanilai farms during his tenure as the state guards commander. He was charged with theft and he pleaded guilty to all the charges.
Before his sentencing by the magistrate, Bojang told the court that he regretted what he has done and that he used the money to develop the welfare of the military unit under him.
He further told the court that he was 44 years old and had 5 children with two wives and was the breadwinner of their family, he therefore beg for mercy from both the court and the president.
He was whisked away amid tight security in a black van with armed soldiers. He was also heard telling his first wife who was also crying to take good care of the children, in jola language.
