Gambia:Editorial: Infighting At The Embassy: JT Kujabi, And Lamin Sanyang Exposed!!!

Editorial: Infighting At The DC Embassy: JT Kujabi, And Lamin Sanyang Cannot See Each Other Eye To  An Eye!!!

Gambians should consider organizing a demonstration-asking for the immediate recalling of Embassy officials at the Washington DC Mission. It is unfair for these “lazy” so called unproductive diplomats to be paid by our taxpayers, and yet they are not delivering any meaningful services to our nation.  Personal grudges, squabbles, and hatred is tearing The Gambian Embassy apart. How can embassy staff work,  when they are not in speaking terms.

There is a growing animosity between Lamin Sabi Sanyang, and Ebrima JT Kujabi. The two are strange-bed fellows these days. They don’t look each other in the eye.  The  strained relationship between JT Jujabi, as he fondly called with Lamin Sanyang, has been attributed to Sabi’s close ties with Jammeh. JT is too obsessed with personal grudges. He cannot come to terms that the President preferred Lamin Sanyang to run his Pimp and money laundering schemes on his behalf.

Each time Jammeh calls the DC Embassy, he would ask JT to transfer the line to Sabi, which does not go down well with Kujabi. JT believes that Sabi must have undermined him to the President.

As a result of this, the two had developed malice to an extent that no serious job can hardly be accomplished at the DC Mission these days. One could noticed the communication breakdown amongst workers there. They spent the entire day gossiping, and bragging about their closeness to the President. Some would even be pretending to be talking to the President while in their offices-just as a scare tactics against their perceived colleague enemies.

JT Jujabi, we  have been told was in Banjul last month. Despite his Banjul visit, nothing has changed there in terms of workers productivity, and peaceful coexistence.  He wants to demonstrate to Sabi, and co that he is in charge, even though he has not yet been officially accredited to serve as an Ambassador.

We have been in touch with Embassy insiders. They said they are not happy with the hostile work environment at the DC Mission. They want to see the President’s intervention. If it means firing the entire Mission staff, and to hire new diplomats it worth it. It makes no sense for these paycheck collectors to represent The Gambian Community,  when they are not willing to see each other eye to an eye. They are not only doing disservice to the country, but President Jammeh, leader of the nation.

If President Jammeh had confidence in you, therefore there should  be no room for complacency.  You need to leave your personal differences at home, and serve the country that you claimed to be representing.

Washington is an important diplomatic zone for The Gambia. Diplomats  assigned to this area, should be people of good moral character, patriotic, and above all dedicated. They should also understand the multicultural, and political dynamisms of the host country. This would avail them the opportunity to better relate with policymakers here in this country.

After all, the Embassy’s preoccupation is to market the image of  The Gambia, and also to protect its nationals. In other words, the DC Embassy should be able to sell Gambia’s case to the civilized world, even though the country has been linked to “grave” human right abuses.

We are not here to lecture you about your job. It is our ardent belief that in the absence of work productivity, there cannot be meaningful development. You are not serving President Jammeh, but the Republic of The Gambia. Bury your personal differences and serve The Gambian nation.
