Breaking News:Coup Plot Uncovered In The Gambia? Soldiers Arrested!!!
General Tamba, Kawsu Camara, And Other Top Military Chiefs Detained Over Coup Allegations!!!

…As Jammeh Cancels Trinidad CHOGM Summit

By Staff Reporter Modou Jallow, Banjul

News just came in that General Lang Tombong Tamba, alongside with other top military, and police officers have been arrested.  General Tamba, who was recently fired by the President is being investigated on allegations of coup plot. President Jammeh’s longtime close confidant  Kawsu Camara, AKA Bombardeh was among those arrested. The newly rehired Deputy IGP Modou Gaye was also not spared during the mass arrest of security officials.

Authoritative sources said the arrest of these men is connected to the Presidential jet, which was caught on fire recently.  The president believes that it was a sabotage, calculated to end his life.

However, a report released by the nation’s aviation authority, The Gambia Civil Aviation blamed the recent aircraft blaze to technical problems. The report which was submitted to the President, recommends among other things: the total overhauling of the presidential jet. The authors of the so called bird report also advised the President to desist from flying in the said plane, until such a time that it has been fully serviced by a certified foreign aircraft maintenance company.

Reports have it that the President was also disturbed by the Freedom Newspaper recent lead story,  in which the paper quoted highly placed sources stating that Jammeh  was going to be toppled,  if he had traveled to Trinidad for the CHOGM summit.

While paranoia continues to grip the mentally challenged Gambian President, sources said the arrest of General Tamba, and others was meant to divert public attention to the current pressing economic, and political challenges befalling the impoverished West African country.

There is a growing discontent amongst Gambia’s military. This is evident on their work morale, and loyalty to the Head of State. Soldiers are displeased with the status quo, as they openly complained about rampant corruption, and lack of accountability in the country.  They believed that the President Yahya Jammeh has betrayed what was widely called here the 1994 revolution, which ousted the 30 years Jawara rule.

Many here have been gripped by anxiety, and worry about the future of this country.  The Gambia, which used to be Africa’s smiling coast,  is gradually sliding into full blown political turmoil.

Meanwhile, National Intelligence Agency Deputy Director Numo Kujabi, was invited for questioning, but later released.  He denied knowledge about the said coup. Some soldiers are also on the run.
