By Pa Nderry M’Bai
As General Lang Tombong Tamba, and his co accused defendants, languished in jail, following allegations of a coup plot against the administration of President Yahya Jammeh, details are emerging regarding the conspiracy theories hatched by the Inspector General of police Essa Badjie, with the primary objective of “BLACKMAILING” the embattled former Army General, highly placed state house sources revealed. IGP Badjie has spearheaded an undercover world scheme against Tamba, as he succeeded in recruiting Tamba’s immediate family member in the person of one Pa Sanyang. Mr. Sanyang, a newly high school graduate, also believed to be mentally challenged, is the half brother of Tamba’s wife Sireh Sanyang. Neither General Tamba, nor his wife Sireh were aware of IGP’S Badjie’s sinister plots to invade their private home, with the recruitment of Pa Sanyang as an undercover spy for the police Department.
Mr. Sanyang, who had fallen out with General Tamba, following the former’s failure to help him realize his much western dream, he became belligerent overnight. He was not only disrespectful to Tamba, but was openly sharing what is considered classified family matters with people who do not need to know.
Mr. Sanyang even turned down a job offer from General Tamba. He insists that he wanted to travel to Europe, where he could tap greener pastures. Relationship between him and Tamba soured.
There was also grilfriend dispute between Pa Sanyang and General Tamba. Mr. Sanyang created a big drama at Lang's residence when he claimed that the Army General was messing with his girl friend.
Given Lang's standing in society, he was humilated by Sanyang's baseless charges. Thanks to the intervention of some elders, the dispute between the two was resolved.
Jesus capitalizes on the situation, and promised to help Pa Sanyang with his overseas travel plans, if he is willing to spy on his in-law. Jesus also recruited a student who was adopted by General Tamba. Both men observed Tamba’s activities within the house and report to IGP Badjie.
In the case of Pa Sanyang, he supplied Jesus with information regarding the arrival time of his sister Sireh Sanyang, who just returned in The Gambia, after delivering a baby in the United States. The unsuspecting Madam Sanyang Tamba discussed her trip itinerary with Pa Sanyang, who inturn informed the police that she was travelling via Dakar on transit before landing in Banjul.
IGP Badjie thought that Lang was going to be at the airport to receive his wife, but unfortunately, the former army General delegated someone to receive Sireh at the airport.
Barely less than one hour after Sireh’s arrival home, armed soldiers were dispatched to arrest General Tamba at his residence. Tamba was found holding his newly born baby. He complied and joined the arresting team without any incident.
Prior to his departure, General Tamba told his wife and family that he was not involved in any coup plot, and assured them to put their faith in God. He said God knows he was innocent, and has nothing to fear.
Blackmailing Theory Against Tamba
General Tamba is a nice guy, who is open to all and sundry. Little did he knew that his own family were spying on him. His adopted student, whose plight was highlighted in the Daily Observer, was also supplying information to the police about Tamba’s visitors and in-house conversations. Tamba volunteered to sponsor the said student out of generosity , but to his chagrin the student turned out to be an enemy.
If President Jammeh is reading us at this hour, we want to assure him that the allegations brought against Tamba are false. Tamba is a victim of blackmailing, and smear campaign.
Tamba’s problems with IGP Badjie is personal. Badjie felt insured following the President’s recent move to reconcile with Tamba. Tamba gave certain conditions to the President. One, he said before he would return to his position as CDC, he wants all his fired colleagues be reinstated.
The President responded by rehiring Modou Gaye, as Deputy IGP. Gaye, and Tamba are good friends. IGP Badjie was not happy about the reinstatement of Gaye. Numo Kujabi was also redeployed to the NIA, including one Mr. Badjie.
Acting out of grudge, and hatred, Jesus falsified a coup allegations against Tamba, and his fellow officers. Tamba, and a score of civilians, and army officers have been arrested. Part Two of this story would be released in our next edition.
