Halifa Sallah's arrogance was only matched by his intransigence-Michael Scales
“Halifa Sallah's arrogance was only matched by his intransigence. Shame on Sallah and all those who believe they are the only  "wisdom" in The Gambia,” Michael Sacales Charges

Dear Mr.Editor,

The Freedom Newspaper, never fails to astound me with its ever vigilant finger on the cusp of fast unfolding events in The Gambia. This morning’s " Good Stuffs" is no exception. When first reading that Amadou Samba and the boss of his former company Africel had been questioned by the police, I said to myself ,,,,this could not be happening?

For Amadou and Jammeh are like "two peas in a pod" They are the proverbial Siamese twins of Gambian commerce. One could not function without the other. Taking this report as fact and not another illusion, there must be echo's emanating down the steamy corridors of power that are destabilizing to say the least. For I fear for Jammeh, as any movement against Mr.Samba and the other leaders of Gambian capitalism, would sound a death knell for Jammeh, too difficult to repair and stay in power.

Taking the down fall of Tamba, and the commander of the State Guard, allied to wholesale arrests and detentions, the nerves of Jammeh must be fraying at the edges. This is more than a struggle for power..... to Jammeh this is a struggle for survival. For even if he wins the battle, he loses the helm of the ship.

I have seen this situation before, but then it was for control of a multi million pound company.

The embattled Chairman, faced with well orchestrated mutiny, decided to make peace and concede to all the demands of the coupists. From there, the company survived for a little while..but in the end, the leadership was arrested and the direction soon hit the slippery slope to insolvency. To witness the destruction of a company is one of the saddest experiences of my life. I was the last person to leave and locked the door forever. On route to my car, I was unable to face the press as I was so overcome with grief. A thousand jobs and livelihoods, abandoned to their own personal debts and how to pay mortgages and bills.

Debt is the most debilitating and un dignified state of human suffering.

How grossly exhadurated was Halifa Sallah's repost to Editor Mbai here at Freedom Newspaper. Does he want to baffle us with science? Or does he want to be considered as someone who can also listen as well as talk the big talk?

The Freedom Newspaper shows no favour or preference to any political party. How can it? For to do so would entirely negate its impartiality as a reporter of news and interests.

The editorial on NADD was of public interest. All Parties must be accountable, all leaders must be challengeable. What makes Halifa Sallah different to this scrutiny?

It is simply not good enough to say the Jammeh government is bad and that they should go.

The electorate have the right to know the substance of what the transitional governments manifesto contains and by this vote for, or against its contents. I also believe The electorate need to know who would be the next President of The Gambia. If you cannot agree on a leader, how can you form a government?

The conditions that brought Jammeh to power still persits today in The Gambia. Is it not time to listen to the hearts and minds of the people?

Is it not time to give The Gambia back to the people?

Halifa Sallah's arrogance was only matched by his intransigence. Shame on Sallah and all those who believe they are the only  "wisdom" in The Gambia.

I still say that, the Fatou Jaw Manneh  brand of humane social realism is the only future for The Gambia. The Gambian male has made such a big mess..lets here it for the girls, they could do much, much better.

 Michael..U.K.
