IGP Badjie Receives Death Threat Letter!!!

…As Letter Writer Threatens To Kill Badjie

As panic, and confusion grips the nation, another disturbing story surfaced today, with the Inspector General of police threatened with death by an anonymous letter writer, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Police chief Essa Badjie was greeted with a scary letter at his residence, as the author who self-styled himself as a “Senegalese businessman” threatens to take his life one of these days. Quoting the content of the threatening letter, a highly placed source close to the President’s office in Banjul said the author hide under the disguised of a “Senegalese businessman” to threaten the life of the police chief.

According to our source, the author of the said letter state in no uncertain terms that he would kill IGP Badjie if spotted within, and outside his house. The author warns Badjie to watch his back, as he was posed to take his life soon.

The death threat against IGP Badjie, followed the so called foiling of a coup plot against the administration of President Jammeh by the police. The death threat letter  which was found in Jesus’s home, is currently in the hands of the country’s intelligence community for analysis , sources said.

A top security chief who wished not to be named said some disgruntled army officers might have been behind the said death threat letter.

“ Many soldiers are angry with the IGP. They believe that he is out to destroy the army, and as such they would do everything humanely possible to contain him.  This is not something new. Soldiers resort threatening death letters to avenge their anger against given situation.  The state should not under any circumstances underrate the threats. These are real threats,” said state house insider.

According to our source, the death threat issued against IGP Badjie was just the tip of the iceberg. The source warns that there is bound to be more sabotage of Government establishments in days to come by the disgruntled soldiers. This he observes would signal to President Jammeh that he is not in charge of the state as he portrays himself. The source said soldiers employed different tactics to destabilize or delegitimize a government.

Concerned by the gravity of the death threats issued against IGP Badjie, the state has decided to beef up Badjie’s personal security. He is usually accompanied by a strong security entourage during and after work hours, sources said.

A highly placed military source conversant with the history of the police-military relationship said Jesus’s case reminds him about the former Farafenni police Inspector Saho Drammeh, who happens to be the current Director of Immigration Services.  According to our source, Mr. Drammeh became pompous,  following his elevation to an Inspector rank. He explained how Saho Drammeh walked into the Farafenni army barracks to arrest a soldier, who was accused of selling marijuana. Drammeh, he went on, received the saddest day of his life, as soldiers chased him.  He ran helter-skelter just to avoid military mob justice, said our source.

The Farafenni soldiers were determined to take Saho Drammeh’s life. They viewed his actions as contemptuous and disrespectful.  Thanks to some religious, and political leaders the tensions between Saho and the military was dozed off.

The military,  he said, believe in protecting one another. Our source said President Jammeh will live to regret his recent actions to humiliate members of the armed forces. He said such disrespect of officers is a No, No, No, in the army.
